Marriage counseling, has it worked for anybody?

The ex-wife seems to be back in the picture. We are talking about going to a marriage counselor while still living in separate places.

Have any of you been to a marriage counselor? How did it workout for you?

they work...however the premis being there is a "common goal" by both of you to achieve something...if not - your wasting time and money....nobody is going to give you the answers- only point out discrepincies and bring issues to the surface....
Counseling is an open book, where truths are revealed....it will still come down to the two of you and where it is you want to be.... its not magic, and its not the counselers responsibility to see that everything works out....they merely point to the directions in which you are heading in or want to.....hope this helps.

no...IMO all it did was made us say out loud what the problems were..No one changed and nothing got better....it was just all out in the open now

It did for us. We still go once a month even though our marriage is perfect.

In many cases, just getting an outside opinion and a place to vent frustration when you know it wont turn into a big thing really helps.

Worked great for us. Helped us through some really really tough times when we thought we'd call it a day.

Didn't work with the 1st husband - but then again he didn't go.....but he wanted the counseling
