True story, we captured an Iraqi Brigadier during Desert Storm and during the interrogation he said, "We lost some men and tanks during the air campaign but I lost my entire Brigade in an afternoon after the ground war started." He was speaking about an engagement where the 7th U.S. Army cavalry regiment decimated his entire armored brigade. For those not versed in military doctrine the rule is that you engage one element beneath yours to ensure victory, it gives you roughly a 3-1 advantage. The force multiplier advantage enjoyed by the U.S. forces was so great we could inverse the equation and not suffer a single loss and that advantage has dramatically increased since I ETS'd. There is no country that can stand up to the conventional military power of the United States, we have the greatest killing advantage enjoyed by any empire in history; The question is whether or not we choose to relinquish our empire.

A troop Vs. a Brigade in fortified positions...

For you marines that don't understand the concept of a troop...it's roughly equivalent to a company....a company Vs. a Brigade....

We only understand how to extuingish life. Efficiently and without remorse. I look at it this way. We (US military) cannot do what we do so well without all branches. The Army and the Marines will always be in competition. We are like brothers. And only we are allowed to pick on each other. We wont stand for anyone else saying shit about our brother. Like the Navy and Marines, its a lo e hate relationship.
