Whenever I'm travelling I always visit the shoe shine booth. The people who work those booths are like bartenders. They know their trade and are quick with some conversation.

The best shine I've gotten so far was in San Francisco. Had a great shine in old town Las Vegas, too.

A good pair of shoes. Ever since I joined the ranks of the professionals, I've noticed one thing about officer workers: they don't wear good shoes. From the square toed clunkers to the overly sleak Italian loafers, nobody knows what a good shoe looks like. What do you wear?

How about a good shave? First barber shave I've ever gotten was also in Las Vegas. I was cut by this Hispanic gentleman. Forgot his name, but I remember his fantastic attention to detail. Never had a smoother shave in my life. A quick hot towel treatment before the shave makes for a new you. Whether you're hitting the card tables or heading right up to your room to join the wife, you can't go wrong with a good clean shave.

I don't pay people to clean my shoes. Or shave my face.

Maybe I need to make more money so I can feel comfortable paying people to do everyday things for me.

I too tend to the care and upkeep of my belonging, BUT, I have to agree with bruce, a shoeman in the town I work in is a miracle worker with leather and resoling shoes. Shit, he even resoled a pair of redwing boots for me

Second best shoe shiner that I know is an old asian man that works in Fashion Island, a shopping complex in Newport Beach. All he has is his little two seater booth and a stool to sit on. He says he'd rather do nothing else.
