First time doing deadlifts in over two years. Pulled 275 for 3 and I am embarassed to say, I hurt from my traps all the way to my hamstrings this morning. Maybe I should have stopped at 225.

Yeah, I am hoping the heavy deads and squats will help the muscle memory kick in. According to my body composition test a couple weeks ago I am down about 45 lbs of lbm. I'm not as concerned with size as I am leaning out a bit, but hopefully any gain in lbm will accelerate the fat loss and at least change my overall body composition for the better.

Did you use straps?

No. I don't even own a pair of straps right now. I had to shave the callouses off my hands though when I got home. One of them felt like it was going to tear. Granted 275 is not a lot but when you haven't done any weight in that long, it was a bit hard on the hands. Will have to keep working on grip strength as my lifts go up from here. I felt like I had another rep or two in me, but my left hand was having trouble holding on much longer. Will go with an underhand grip on the left next time.

If a 200lb person is 10% bodyfat he has 20lbs of fat on his body. This does not mean he has 180lbs of muscle, no where close. I want you to visualize something. Pickup a 16oz chicken breast and take a look at it. Now imagine 44 more of those missing from you. That's a lot of fucking muscle. I highly doubt you lost that much.

I have lost about 7" off my chest, 4" off my arms, 2" off my thighs and have 6% more bodyfat with a 4-5" larger waist at a bodyweight 33 lbs lighter.

I have not juiced or worked out since October of 2004.

Let's not forget the water and other bodily fluids pumping through those muscles. I'm still sticking with about half that weight being muscle. Pick up a chicken breast :)

Crew even if 10 lbs of it was water retention (I usually lost 10 lbs after coming off test if I stayed on eq and or tren) that is still 35 lbs of muscle, and yes I will hold to that looking at that much meat. 56" chest down to 49, 20" arms down to 16, with more bodyfat on them. I was 261 and calipered at 12% (no love handles and top 4 abs showing but blurry) bf a couple weeks before being hospitolized.

You'll get your muscle back quickly enough. Do a Google on the Colorado Experiment: Casey Viator had lost huge amounts of muscle from an accident and regained about 63 lbs of lbm in a month, 45lbs up with around 17lbs of fat loss. I've no idea what he was on.

Work your grip without straps while you can. Most of it should come back within a few months if you eat and train to get it back. Just don't get impatient and take an injury.

I have been training for a month at the gym in my apartment with high reps on dumbells. Since they dumbells only go to 50 lbs I've been doing sets of 20 on presses, 30 rep squats with them, 30 rep stiff legged deads and such. Of course I started with the 10's on everything and worked my way up. Just focusing on rebuilding connective tissue and preparing my body for heavier training.

OF COURSE u r sore.

it's a good feeling, isn't it.

lifting always reminds me of the old john mellencamp song "it hurts so good"

LOL

you lost all that weight and gained inches on your waist? dang, that sucks.
yeh, BBF's not alone....the story of my life also... :mix:

At least you didn't gain too much weight. You areo nly 17%, which is still really low compared to where you were before you ever started working out with your 45" waist.

Very true. Plus I have lost 4 lbs since I tested at 17.5% 3 weeks ago and am stronger so know I have not lost lbm. Down to 224. Dropped a total of 10 lbs since I started training lightly again and cleaned up my diet.

rnch, yes sore is a good thing in this case.

im fucking ruined from moving,i fell through a wooden heating grate and was half into my basement, and had a dryer dropped on me,it fucking sucked

Nooooooo dont site that one. :lmao: Casey was taking large quantities of extracurricular anabolics, plus he had Mr. Nautilus Arthur Jones kicking his ass for motivation.

Dude I dead 195, so no it's good that you went to 275.

LoL thanks?

Anywho I used to stiff-leg 495 for sets of 6 so 275 x 3 is a long way to go. It i ok. If I add a 2.5 plate to each side every week, in theory it will be 500 lbs in less than a year. 5 lbs is nothing.

Yep I'm sure you'll be pulling mucho poundagios pretty sure again. First 3 months or so the strength curve is crazy steep.
