I started watching Heathcliff for Heathcliff. As time went on, I became more interested in Riff-raff and the Cadillac cats, and would find myself daydreaming through Heathcliff just to see Riff-Raff. He had a car that was a boat. A fuckin boat!

i agree wholeheartedly. I actually named my dog "heathcliff". No joke. When I go home and I yell, "Heath, where are ya buddy?" he sarts to sneeze at about 5 second intervals and prances around. It's very funny so I start to sneeze too.

That was Heathcliff - he was the one that would actually go out and do stuff.
Garfield was the one that would just sit around all the time.

He *did* do it in the special color books and the TV animated specials.
I don't recall enough of the TV series, if there even was one.
Odie was always my favorite anyway.

I couldn't find anything to confirm, but did you guys know that George Gately, the creator of Hetcliff died last year at the age of 72 on 10/03/01?

I'm talking about on the cartoons. I can picture an orange cat wearing a top hat...getting booed.... but I just can't picture the face. Those are the only clues I have to go on which doesn't help because they were both orange, and they were both somewhat unpopular with their neighbors.

Garfield was so not gay. Take that back.

My dog is a Shetland Sheepdog, also called a Sheltie or a miniature collie so he is the same colour as Hethcliff the cat and not much bigger. It worked very well. I have a cat named HAL too and another dog named Rdy (after the short guy who nobody liked and never got to play football). I don't like Rudy cause he never leaves me alone. Heathcliff on the other hand is the smartest dog you will ever meet. He's smarter than most people I know and can even do trigonometry.

Garfield was soo gay.
Not the muscled tan kind of gay that you find on this board - but the hairy bear kind that Richard Hatch embodies.
Heathcliff was more in the vein of biker dudes, or maybe butch lesbians.
