Maintaining muscle while on glucocorticoid therapy.

A few days ago, I experienced sudden traumatic hearing loss in my left ear. In addition to tinnitus, I've also lost about 75% of my hearing in my left ear. The good news is that I've got no brain stem abnormalities or problems with proprioception and vertigo/headaches. The bad news is that my hearing damage might be permanent.
The treatment so far included infusion with pentoxyfillin. (a drug that helps red blood cells circulate in the small capillaries of the ears). The doc also prescribed me with in infusion of the glucocorticoid methylprednisolone. The glucocorticoid therapy is by IV infusion:250mg per day for 3 days. I realize this is not a long period...but the dosage seems somewhat high to me.

Question: what should I do to minimize loss of muscle? I trained today, and it's my second infusion of methylprednisolone. I felt my old injuries a lot less...as expected...and I intend to eat more protein the next few days. (I do not usually follow a high protein diet.) How long will it take for the glucocorticoid effects to leave my body?

thank you for your replies.
