MACs are known by graphic designers to be better for desktop publishing, video work, and other high end visual production.
They are more expensive than PCs. The software for them generally costs more, and there is less of it.
I have a PC and it does not get viruses. With a PC you should have an anti virus/spyware program as well has a hardware and software firewall.

You asked if there was a reason you shouldn't buy a MAC, I said they are more expensive and the software is harder to find and more expensive.
well there is no such thing as a PC OS. You can choose between many different ones, but for home computing 99% of people go with Windows based OS and 90% of those are Microsoft produced.velvett said:Ok, I'll give you that.

Mac OS has been called more stable than Microsoft OS by some but I don't know if that is a true statement. People do say it "crashes" less. But there are many factors that could validate or invalidate that statement. Maybe people use PCs for different things or do more high "risk" behavior.
I always go with PCs. Cheap and easy to maintain. I just build a 4ghz machine for $800. 2 GB of RAM, 320 MB HD, DVD writer, etc.
I was going to purchase a mac recently and was told by our computer programers/IT peeps that It would eventually cost more money than if I even purchased a very low end system. Something to do with upgrades, and programs, etc... If you have a good anti virus set up, and do updates for windows then your system should run ok. No doubt ... here and there they have issues, but a MAC, isn't above those issues either.

I had a PC until I got 15" a PowerBook G4 hand me down, love it. I threw out the PC. I've had it for like 3 years now, so simple to use. I have the works suite, so you know word works excel.... but I only use word sometimes. For me I have never wanted a program I couldn't get. Never a virus, no popups and no maintenence... the updates autorun. I LOVE mine, love it, love it, love it.... !!!

Of course one can build a notebook.
I was asking LESTAT if he could specifically build one - providing he built his own and not someone building it for him.
You can't go out and buy a notebook motherboard, notebook display screen, notebook case, and stuff to build a notebook the way you can build a home system.
Oh, and Macs are for artfags.
This is what I do all day long and I can tell you MAC's are far supprerior to PC on so many levels. I have never once ever had a customer regret buying a MAC. Just an FYI the new windoes Vista is MAC's OS circa 2002. MAC has an always will be light years ahead of PC's.

I would never buy a Mac
if you get a laptop, get it with no software and I'll send you all the software you need. save a ton of $$
Macs have never been lightyears ahead of PC's - thats why their starting to use intel chipsets and have a bunch of windows based programs for them - cause all of theirs sucked ass.

I got all excited thinking this was a thread about Scottish people. EH 
I prefer PC's and my bro prefers mac's. I do spreadsheets and analytical he does graphic design (artfag). The big problem with mac's is they cost more, the software costs more, they are less available at computer shops.
Whereas the big problem with pc's is microsoft and it's evil empire.

Chicken has to be very good too not be nauseating.
And everything associated with chickens stinks to high heaven. Raw chicken stinks, especially the fat; eggs are capable of amazing bad smells, before and after you eat them; and if you leave any chicken or egg residue on your dishes in the sink for half a day after eating, whoo boy it starts stinking in a hurry.
But nothing stinks like when you leave a frozen chicken breast out to thaw, and then sort of forget to cook dinner, go out, hook up with a girl*, then come home the next afternoon. Oh my what an amazing smell that is!
*or more likely, spend the night in the drunk tank
