lower back tighness after squat workout

Tubby

New member
I recently switched to a heavier weight for squat than normal and feel tightness/soreness in my lower back Ive never felt before. Whenever I stopped and picked squatting back up in the past I always had the burn in my hams and groin, but never lower back. Am I lifting with too much weight or is it natural/good to have a burn in the lower back from squats.

Wow I almost made this post today. Back squats treat me alright, but lately I wanted to focus more on my quads so I've done front squats. Last week it really hurt my lower back and I had to abort the workout. This morning it started to hurt so I just stopped and switched to leg press. I don't think I'm leaning too far forward - I actually am more upright on front squats than I am on back squats (I'm 6'3").

could be weak errectors not being able to deal with the load of keeping you upright and handling the weight from front squats aswell.

Are you stretching? Any tightness in the hams can lead to a tight and sore low back. They work together. Stretching helps me...and massive intake of H2O.
