Losing your size and strength after quiting AAS?

I was thinking of this long-term:

One fairly agressive 10-week cycle a year (by HRT standards). Some test, deca, winny, and hgh.

A 2 IU/day (5 on 2 off) "maintenance dose" of HGH about 40ish weeks out of the year -- still with a good 12 weeks off

Then, on years when I'm really focused on lifting, maybe doing one additional cycle max... but probably sticking to one cycle per year for the most part.

Is that workable for keeping gains, or is one cycle per year going to result in losses back to baseline between cycles?

I have been off of everything for almost a year, other than a maintenance dose of test that is Dr. prescribed.
but most guys who quit for good have low test afterwards and they are the ones who really lose much very fast. The difference between a lady and a man in natural test production is only 6-8 mg per day but look at the size difference that results because of this small amount, the equivalent of 2 ampoules of sustanon every month can help you retain 50 lbs of muscle mass or more.

No, you won't lose it all, and for most people, if you keep training, you'll stay above your previous genetic limit. I'll say for damn sure, my genetic potential was not 180lbs at 5'5" with 12%bf. My dad is 5'10" and has never been over 175, he usually sits around 160. Through usage of gear like tren and IGF which increase hyperplasia, I think I increased my genetic max. While steroid-induced muscle SIZE may go away, steroid-induced muscle FIBERS themselves won't just dissappear or be reabsorbed. If you go from 100k to 130k fibers in a muscle from IGF, and then stop all gear, those fibers may shrink but they won't dissappear. If you keep training and eating right, you'll keep plenty of it.

You can keep an exta 20 lbs or so (from size before first cycle) from proper diet, consistent training, and supplements like creatine and glutamine.

Problem comes from losing motivation to train natural. Also, strict dieting is required, whereas, on gear, you can get away with being a little sloppy (esp. with added hGH or IGF-1).

In college (early 80's) I benched 365x2 and squatted about 450 at 200 lbs. I quit training around 91 til last year. I kept a fair amount of size (a lot of which I had before juice) but I probably lost about 100 lbs on bench and 150 off the squat. I benched 275 at 173 lbs before I started juicing.

personal experience really means nothing here...not that your opinion is not crediable here dial tone, cause u know it is...but this is all a matter of genetics. if you quite traing that long and you had my genetics you would be shrivled into a pea.

i think it is all a matter of genetics....you can only do what your body allows u to. your genetics might be great and you stop juicing and eat like shit and you stay big..while the other guy with punny genetics eats great and works out hard still looses all the muscle his body wont allow him to have

genetics people, genetics

He asked for personal experience so I gave it to him.

I think alot of it depends on how much you gained naturally, how big you were before you started, how long you have used, etc. I was 240 at 6'1 before I ever started at 23. I lifted for a solid 6 years before ever touching anything. Genetics play a big role too, I have pretty good genetics. You definitely don't lose everything though, that's crazy.

Your experiences are all nice, but you are all forgetting something. AAS change your genetic potential.

Abstract
PURPOSE: Athletes who use anabolic steroids get larger and stronger muscles. How this is reflected at the level of the muscle fibers has not yet been established and was the topic of this investigation. METHODS: Muscle biopsies were obtained from the trapezius muscles of high-level power lifters who have reported the use of anabolic steroids in high doses for several years and from high-level power lifters who have never used these drugs. Enzyme-immunohistochemical investigation was performed to assess muscle fiber types, fiber area, myonuclear number, frequency of satellite cells, and fibers expressing developmental protein isoforms. RESULTS: The overall muscle fiber composition was the same in both groups. The mean area for each fiber type in the reported steroid users was larger than that in the nonsteroid users (P < 0.05). The number of myonuclei and the proportion of central nuclei were also significantly higher in the reported steroid users (P < 0.05). Likewise, the frequency of fibers expressing developmental protein isoforms was significantly higher in the reported steroid users group (P < 0.05). CONCLUSION: Intake of anabolic steroids and strength-training induce an increase in muscle size by both hypertrophy and the formation of new muscle fibers. We propose that activation of satellite cells is a key process and is enhanced by the steroid use. The incorporation of the satellite cells into preexisting fibers to maintain a constant nuclear to cytoplasmic ratio seems to be a fundamental mechanism for muscle fiber growth. Although all the subjects in this study have the same level of performance, the possibility of genetic differences between the two groups cannot be completely excluded.

Reread my post psyched, you'll notice that I DID say I believed I had changed my genetic max through the usage of gear, and used my family's and my size overall as corroborating evidence. But you did post up a study, very pretty... you win i suppose :)
