Lord Suston, CoolColJ, ThaiBox...

Thai you already know what I want now is to box. Something sparked in me and I have this insane drive to do whatever it takes now. I know that at least two of you know about olympic lifts (not sure if Suston does 'em) but he's also a fighter, so I ask the three of you (and anyone else who can input here)... would it be a good idea to start incorporating olympic lifts somewhere into my 5x5 routine now? Or should I stay on this routine alone for a bit and build a bigger and stronger muscular foundation, and then hit the olympic lifts? My routine is posted on the sports board, on my post. Check it out.

I would finish your current routine, then spend some time really learning the olympic lifts. They are very technical, and I feel require some coaching. So i would finish what you are doing, then spend some time specialising in the olympic movements.

Yeah, I suppose I should go find myself a good olympic sports coach or somethin'.

Sidenote: Scruples, shutup. You make the most pointless, idiotic posts. You're useless. Slit your wrists. Now. Bitch.

why would anyone waste their time typing a response when everyone knows that next week you'll come in here and say, "oh, i decided to just be a pussy, do you guys know any good video games??"

Video games? I despise them. If anything I'd be out with friends. You're pretty sad, scruples. Why not keep to yourself, rather than constantly trying to get attention by making such idiotic posts directed at me, because you seem to hold some sort of grudge. Oh wait, now you'll respond to that with "I have a grudge because you're an idiot". Or maybe "lol!" again? Or perhaps you'll be more creative and make a poem about why you hate me? Regardless, I don't care. Don't fuck wit' the boards with posts like that anymore, and PM me if you feel the need. This is the last post I'm directing at you.

By the by, people would bother typing a response because their good people, it doesn't take much time for them to type, nor energy. Needless to say, their not ignorant assholes such as yourself. I rarely see a useful post from you on these boards, honestly. You're fuckin' pathetic.

no, i think people are tiring of your posts that keep asking the same questions (in different guises) over and over and over...

you will never make any progress changing your routine week in and week out, and i know that you've read this board long enough to know that

but yet, no matter what people say, you keep coming back with identical questions... so rather than rely on other people, why not begin to formulate your own strategy, based on what i know you MUST HAVE learned on this board -- like i said before, it's obvious that you aren't stupid, so put what you've learned to use and meet the goals that you set for yourself (and that you have for longer that 1-2 weeks)...

and to respond to your original question, i don't think that you should be concerned w/olympic lifts at this stage... build up a good foundation first w/the 5x5 routine and then see where you want to go next...

i personally think that you are trying to impress people with your knowledge of different routines, etc... but i think that people would be more impressed if you stuck w/a program and progressed in size and strength...

It is because you say stuff like this that people dont give you good responses. If someone says something you dont like, just ignore them. No need to call people names and tell them to kill themselves.

Now, for your real question. I dont know much about boxing, but I dont see why you couldnt start learning the O-lifts now. Just take it very light and get your form perfected. Try to find someone to coach you, or at least help you on your form some.

well you really need a coach/trainer to teach you the moves, they're pretty hard to pick up, especially if your not the athletic type.

start practising with a wooden staff for a few weeks, get the grrove and feel and then move onto a light bar for anotehr month and then the olympic bar which is pretty heavy itself.

You can start practising the moves with an empty bar after that at the start of every workout as a warmup - they tops for that.

In the last 8 months that I have been doing oly lifts I must have put in thousand of hours in practise and its only now am I starting to get consistant in form - yes their that hard!

It takes at least a year to get good at em, its a long term thing.

It takes about 3 months to get really good form and move some decent weight with o-lifts. I do do them but usually only the clean and the clean and jerk. SOmetimes I go with a hang clean but all in all I like clean and jerk because of the long distance traveled by the bar and the cardio it builds up.... I suggest only 3 working sets, try for 6,6,4 reps at maximun velocity when you are proficient. When I started I used a 3x8 rep scheme to learn how to get the coordination down....

Crew, spinning is what skinny people do. Its jazzercise on expensive excercycles.

I agree with whats been said about oly lifts. Like CCJ said, you should start learning the complex lifts with no weight. This basically means that you can begin doing them right now and not affect your 5x5 training. It will take a while for you to be ready to do oly lifts for real, so keep doing 5x5 and just practice the movements. I would get any possibly neglected muscles ready for it now though(rotators, etc)

alright

Give LK2 a break, The guys obviously new to the game. And probably dosent know much (although he must by now). Hes still probably trying to figure out what sort of training he wants to persue, and what his goals are. Give him a chance to open some doors check out what the diffrent styles of training are like and how they work. and he'll probably stick with something eventually.

Everyone chill out.

Legion is asking reasonable questions about training. There is no need to flame him. He is currently trying to experiment and find something that works for him.
