pref.. a lab or a german shepard...i know nothing about dogs..is there any site i can look up? and look into what i need to get done once i get the puppy...shots..and what not?

If it's your first dog, I'd go with a lab instead of the German. German shepards (IMO) can require a lot of attention and time because they:

1) NEED to work
2) Smart/Problem solvers

If they dont have a job or a way to release this energy, they tend to wig out. They also can be VERY protective of their family, so they need proper training when they're young so that they dont become too aggressive.

Labs also need a job, but theirs IMO is a lot easier to deal with. I mean, they just wanna bring shit back to you, so it's easier to deal with. Traditionally they're much more gentle and pretty much a lovable buffoon. I have a 2 yr old and I have to be honest, he's like my best friend. Google the breeds and you can find several good sources of info.

pm me with your email addy, bro...i'll shoot you some pics of my labs.

got 2 American labs,,a chocolate and a yellow..americans have longer legs and tend to be leaner..

got 1 British lab,,he's a black lab..British labs tend to be stockier and not quite as lean...

both make fine dogs..the most well-behaved is the yellow..they are the easiest to train...the black is the smartest,,they are also very easy to train...the chocolate is a little less disciplined,,,as chocolates tend to be...however,,he's the favorite amongst my fam and friends generally...by far the most goofy and playful.

if you're a hunter,,i'd suggest a yellow or a black... but if you want a big ole' goofball who will be your best fucking friend in the world,,,get a chocolate..

got any pictures?

Border collies are my fav breed...insanely smart dogs, sweet, playful, loyal. But seriously bro...adopt one from a shelter before you go for puppies....puppies are cute but a LOT of work, and there are dogs getting put down every day.

I'm biased for shepherds, I've had collies and lab mixes... both are good choices but shepherds are smart as hell and easily trained but you have to exercise them and they want a "purpose."

Look into Rotties. I have 2. The first was a rescue and is just the biggest lap dog in the world. She wants nothing more than to make me happy and is very low maintenance. The male is 3 months old and shows the exact same temperment. They are both incredibly smart and trainable. My vet swears by them.

That's what I like about dobies. But they want to work too or they get bored.
