Looking in the mirror

Do you look at you in the mirror while lifting ?

It is good for the ego
helps to see if you have a good form

BUT I find it does more harm than good
it fucks my neck, deconcentrates me and I can't keep a good form when squatting or deadlifting and looking in the mirror

I'm actually better focused when looking in the mirror. I like to see visually what muscles are reacting as well as feel it. It's actually kinda weird for me now if I don't see myself when hitting an exercise.

ehh, I find that it helps me more than it hurts me...I've just learned to block out external thoughts and not give a shit about what other people think...I get the same looks from the same people when I started out squatting 135 and now 315x10 ATF so it really goes to show that it doesn't matter what teh fuck the other guy's thinking...

I use the mirror when I can face it, It help to perform the exercise in the proper way, and you can see your nice pumped muscles !! :inflate:
But I don't do it when there's too much people in the gym, kindda embarrassing.

There is a mirror in front of me when I lift most of the time, but I can't ever recall really looking at myself in it while lifting.

this is kind of an interesting thread lol..i look in the mirror but i dont stand there eyeing myself up and down and all around lol..the one thing that i find weird i seem bigger in the gym mirrors than my mirror at home lol

I have tried looking to my side when squating to check knees placement and lower back. I found this to be somewhat disorienting. I too notice the gym mirrors make you feel and little more confindent lol. I think it's more to do with the lighting than anything. It's amazing what shadowing can do for a mans figure(especially a pale Irish fella lol).

Also, you're pumped.

I personally look in the mirror at the gym just because of how it's set up. I don't like to see the muscles working, it distracts me. So at the gym I just wear clothes that hide them.

I often use the mirrors on all of my exercises, though on deadlifts I close my eyes during the beginning of the lift and dont really see myself until the end. But Im pretty much zoned out by that point anyway. I can see myself when repping out deads off the floor though, but only when my head is facing it directly. Im constantly using the mirror to see where I need work, as well as I like to see if Im gaining any size. I dont use it on the bench press, but occasionally on inclines Ill take a look. haha Im fucking delusional anyway so I cant really see the gains, but it can be an obsession to a point.

Only when I lift at home

I have carnival fun house mirrors all throughout my house. They make me look fucking huge!! The only problem is once I look in the mirror, I figure I'm already so freaking big, why should I work out.

Works in the bedroon as well. My penis looks huge, and her ass looks so big, she's just happy I'm willing to sleep with her at all, and shows her appreciation.

I am looking up at an angle during squats and deadlifts, so no for those exercises. Yes, for things like military press, sometimes curls.

yup... funny thing Golds is like ALL mirrors- every frickin wall..LOL!! (I like it:)

sometimes I feel inadequate when looking at the mirror and lifting because all I focus on is the negative things I notice like lack of progress and my gut.

Know what you mean. I train at Gold's also and they are everywhere aside from the floor and ceiling.

I think I look bigger in the gym mirrors. Is there something to commercial gyms installing slightly warped mirrors for psychological reasons?
