Looking for a good home theater system, 2 many

Lots of good packages out there, even at walmart. Ones with everything included. Just make sure

1) It has a good unit with lots of features if you're adding not just surround sound but dvd, radio, video inputs, etc.
2) Active powered subwoofer. Even the smallest wattage subs have enough punch, so u don't need *that* much.
3) You can listen to it first, like at circuit city, best buy. Check out the back panel, how they're connected, how you change inputs, etc. by remote control.

Take your time, but most expensive is not always the best. You don't need a 5 foot fancy wood mahogany stylish speaker system setup.

I'd go with the KEF KHT-1005.2 5.1 speaker system, plus a 5.1 receiver (Onkyo?) and a cheap Blu-Ray player. It'll put you over a grand, but don't be such a cheapskate. If you can afford three special edition Dodge trucks...

Grab the latest Yamaha 7:1 system.

Add whatever 7 speakers you can afford after that. You can spend way over $1,000 just on speakers so that is where you have to make the decision on where to go.

Add whatever DVD player to the yamaha from there.

DO NOT get an all in one package. They are crap.

That is my $.02.

LOL, like I mentioned earlier this room is going to be a secondary entertainment area. The bigger upstairs area which is 30'x40' with a 20' vaulted ceiling and the triple level deck out back will have the good stuff. Well, good for a redneck not talking no millionairs toys. No, I don't live in a mansion. Just an old house with a couple big rooms that I decided not to make a bunch of bedrooms, etc as I don't have kids. When you have 20+ years of const. exp you can build whatever you want. The 3x deck really isn't a full 3 sizes, the bottom 2 are 30x20 with a spiral staircase and a hot tub at the bottom, the upper is window wrapped and air conditioned with a pool table, the top level is a small 8'x8' tower that I like to visit on occasion and get stoned out of my gourd lol. Pretty good view up there, not many houses around. I've been working on this stuff 10 years.
