London?

Hey everyone,
Well I have a quick question for all you people over in Europe (London). I am off to London for a year for grad school and to train for work, what are my chances of finding a good gym. I hear the people there are not into weight training as much as we are. Also how is the living situation, expensive. I will be in London, right at the edge of Islington. Any help would be great.
Thanks

London is the most expensive place in the UK to live. There are plenty of gyms around but many are the fitness types. Go to yell.co.uk (or it may be .com I can't remember) and do a search with a post code (like a zip) for the area you are staying.

sorry it is no a message board (you can join it via outlook) but there is a contact email addy, the guy that runs it owns a gym (if I remember) I am sure he will help, us Brit's are very friendly you know (in an arrogant way)

well maybe its not all that bad. im a student in london, and as im a british citizen i get money of my tuition fees....im afraid u wont. i pay 1000 pounds or there about, my overseas student friends pay 10,000 for the same course. im not sure where or what you arte studying so it may be different. Everything in london costs more than everything else in the country, its called the london factor....ok its not really called that but it should, either way u might have financial worries, i hope u dont though bro, best of luck to u in that and everything

as for gyms, they cost a lot too....most are fitness centres like strength monster said, so if in central london expect a 50yr old business man sitting down on a bench, chatting on his mobile telephone whislt leering at a woman 20 yrs younger on the pec deck. if ur going to Uni, try your Uni gym, it might be far cheaper (mine costs 20 pounds a year) and is likely to be hardcore, but absent of much equipment. also if travelling is an issue, getting to and fro is a pain in the arse. there are 2 gyms near islington i know of, saddlers fitness centre (name says it all) and holmes place (ridicoulously expensive), but if u find somewhere cheap, tell me! ill be suprised! there are student discounts but these r mostly reductions of the joining fee.....the chepest membership ive found near me is 250 pounds for a turd gym (however i live in a relativly affulent area).....anyhows...good hunting ! :fro:
