Lifting straps...

I never got the use of lifting straps. Either that, or I'm not using them correctly.

I find that when I use them, the bar is a little too thick for me to handle and I quickly strip them off and try the lift without it.

Yet, I've seen others who swear by them.

Is there a link somewhere that explains the how and has pics to show how to wrap the bar? Mebbe I'm not doing it right...

yup, hold on.
i'll find a link for you and you can tell me if this is what you're referring to.

ok, all i found for now is this: http://www.prowriststraps.com/home
mostly pics but they might have a demo on there, i'm not sure.

I used mine wrong for a very long time. They still improved my grip, but not by as much as they should of.

jubei showed be a new way (or shall I say, more correct) to wrap them and I can now hold 60-70 more pounds than normally.

Can you take a pic of it and how you wrap it around a bar?

bro
slide it on the bar and just wrap it slightly overlapping it..depending how long your wraps are it should be the width of your hand..once you get all the fabric around te bar give it a turn like your revving a throttle to tighten it as much as you want..then lift :)

wrap it around the bar but dont bunch it up
I only wrap it once around the bar. Its not bunched up, but I still find that it makes the bar too big. I guess I'm just not used to it.

if your only wrapping once and its too thick then youll have to get used to it..is it a standard bar? i know my gym has a few bars that are extra fat for what i have no idea

first of all, if your grip is overhand, wrap from the other direction (the underhand way) and visaversa.
wrap more than once, but you don't have to overlap the wrap- it can go around the bar like a candycane, around where your hand goes. I'll take a pic tomorrow and show you.

Thanks for all the help. Mebbe I'll just try that lifting cuff out too...or the claws?! WTF?
