Lifting for strength verses Looks

Is there a good book that explains the difference. I dont want to just look good in the gym but also want to be real strong.

To sum it up quickly - heavier weight, fewer reps, longer rest periods = more strength. For size do the opposite.

i think the two often go hand in hand. If you can squat 135 and bench 115 and in 5 months you can squat 245 and bench 185, are you going to look the same as you did 5 months prior?

No.. you will be bigger and stronger- diet will determine how big though

You can do both. You just need to be more down the middle with your training. I change my training in late fall and go for strength work outs then in the spring I go to a more looks work out. I also watch my % body fat during the warmer months, winter not so much. A disclaimer, I'm fine with 12-13% BF. Not really worth it to me to get really ripped. Winter time I head up to around 18.

Squat stuff, press stuff, pick up stuff...do this for long periods of time and you will get bigger, stronger, etc...
