Anyone(for lots of k, as usual:rolleyes:) have any INTERESTING topics regarding the US population? Not the normal, boring stuff about how we have way 2many people...blahblahblah...
Anyone know any topics that aren't so typical? I need to do a big project about it for school but am having a hard time thinking of something to research. I want to do something a little bit different instead of the typical crap people mention when discussing population. I don't need anyone to do my homework for me but k to u if you can help me think of something cool to work on.

Something about teh joos.

Hi myway! whatcha doin?

how acout population now......with the whole gas deal...ppl are movin around here...big time. in ourown city

how about the changing demographics of the population? Soon there will be more people retired than there are working. As the baby-boomers age, they will place an increased burden on the gen x,y and nows.

US population in what context? Any context?

This is what I would do. Our economy and current level of debt can not handle the Baby Boomers retiring. There is no cap on benefits and all these old fuckers want their shit. We are in some serious trouble.

talk about the ever increasing population of us citizens finding themselves in some form of the legal sytem (ie prison)

yeah, i guess talking about how the US prison population has nearly trippled in the past 20 years is too boring.

You could discuss how clearly over half the population is so fucking mentally retarded.

obviously I don't mean any of the americans on EF, cause I luv you guys.

I mean though in all seriousness, there seems to have been a drop in the level of education the general population is recieving which isn't creating a plethora of incredibly intelligent learned individuals.

Why does it have to be viewed as increased burden, this could also place alot of increased opportunity on those generations.

There will be more roles to fill then ever, also baby-boomers are a great demographic to sell too.

The burden is the health care and social system costs associated with the aging population.

Impact of religion on populated areas? Impact of a hospital on populated areas?

They did a study and found out that secularization does lower the fertility rate and that there was a correlating relationship between religion and birth rates... anyway religious peeps tend to have families and this becomes obvious with the secularization of the United States... anyway more religion more families and increased birthrate, check out the pew forum on this...

Sorry your theology teacher is a wacko... in undergrad, mine was phenomenal... kinda influenced me to check out other religions and got me started where I ended up.

I don't know how theoretical you can get, but is the topic population now, or can it be about where population is headed, or how some things like technology, or biotechnology, will impact future populations...

The increase in the poor populatino - and how it never benefits a country.

Try that. Bet ya 10 bucks the findings won't be politically correct :)

Myway, I recently published a book with an entirely new perspective on population growth. Take a look. You won't be sorry. I think your professor would be blown away if you wrote a paper on this. Visit either of my two web sites

Believe it or not.....this project is actually for my calculus class. She wants us to dig up data from the past and present in order to make an educated prediction about the future.
I love this professor. She seems much more into sociology than mathematics. I appreciate this characteristic because I hate/suck at math.

Wow. I am getting some great responses. Keep it up. This is why I heart all of you. Well, for that reason and many others.
I am handing out k to everyone but hope to give one big lump to someone at the end.

If she is into sociology, then the correlation between secularization and decreasing birth rates may be interesting, or what I would really like to do is to see what projected population rates would be in 2030 with increases in biotechnology, nanotechnology, and artificial intelligence... but I don't have a topic for the second clarified, I just think it would be an interesting topic to project how technology will probably increase longevity and what kind of genetic gattaca like phenomenon the government would do, however, the second topic now seems kind of silly, so yeah, I can only offer the secularization idea...

what i found interesting about the population, and i did a paper on it, was the fact that the more wealthy a family is the fewer children they have and the lower income families are the ones who have 4 or more children. the same goes for education. the more educated people have fewer children than the uneducated ones do. yes the baby boomers are in for some rough times but these days people are having fewer children which causes even more trouble for the baby boomers because for every 4 people receiving social security only 1 person is putting in to it.

Infant mortality rates in different ethnic groups.

I just read in the Lancet or the BMJ that they were approximately the same for the white and black community in 1977, since then, it has been on the increse in the black community again.

You could probably link infant mortality rates to the education level of women or income.

I will see how much info I can dig up on it. Thanx tat!
