Let's say.....

Banned
someone who weighed 230, was decently strong (benching around 350 for 5-6) and ate a "unclean" college buffet daily while using aas and not knowing a damn thing (like taking 100mg of eq a week and test at 250mg per week) dropped to (over he course of 2 years,) 170, ripped and shredded, with an anal low cal diet to now only be able to bench 225 for a double.

If they totally restructed their current low cal low carb diet and starting scarfing on all kinds of food, exceeding their caloric limit and continued to pound the weights and drop the daily cardio, could they/'would they get back to the same as physique and strengh as 2 years ago? Long, confusing post....my apologies.

If that person has gotten there before, there's no reason he shouldn't be able to do so again.

Very true bro... give it around 6 months... if your diet is on you should achieve your muscle memory status...

it wasnt meant to be a secret bro.....I'm just totally baffled....dont know what to do to get back up there......do I need a week off? I've never taken a day......just confused.

WOW! that is a massive strength loss! I would say that you should forget about the cutting for right now and begin to regain some of your LBM. Increase cals, protein, fats, carbs, etc. Also, I would allow yourself 3 days of complete rest per week. You need to give your body a break.

K to you bro...well, K to all of you actually, but I truly think you nailed it. I havent had a day off (meaning absolutely nothing, usually it's training or cardio and for the past year it's been 2 a days 7 days a week) in about 3 years. Coping with an eating and physique disorder. I need to develop a plan to hit the gym on a 3 on 1 off routine. Just don't know how to eat on off days. Less carbs and more fat? Maybe that's my problem, I know how to eat when I train, as I need the carbs for fuel (albeit very low cals in all of your eyes......) I guess I just have that fat fear that wont allow me to eat in excess for fear of losing the cuts. I need to STOP lifting my shirt up every time I use the pisser to check abs...........It's old already.....BEAT THIS SHIT!

Two-a-days, 7 days a week, for a year and no days off in the last three years?? Holy shit! Lance Armstrong doesn't even work that hard. You need a little more relaxed approach. Even if you introduced big doses into your regimen, there's probably no way your body can recover to the point where serious strength gains could be made.

For me, as long as I'm getting the 1.5 to 2.0 g's of protien per pound of body weight everyday, it's hard for me to find room (or time) to stuff a bunch of bad food into my head. Also, fat is my friend :) I take a more carb-controlled approach. For me, dietary fat reduction equals muscle/energy loss.

My suggestion would be to go ahead and start eating. Just make sure you control it and you won't get fat again, you'll stay fairly lean bro. My biggest suggestions are to drop all that cardio, cut back to like 2 times a week. You're very lean right now I'd imagine, it's overkill......you're not going to get very strong doing all that cardio. I made that same mistake, you just can't get overly strong if you're doing a ton of cardio.

Also for christ sake's man take a little bit of a break, from what it sounds like i'd suggest 2 weeks off, completely off, no nothing except sports if you play.

You're overtrained more than likely right now. Let your body rest and go back and don't do it so hard.

Like I said earlier, I was there myself at one time but I was lean and really twiggy and I hit the gym 6 days a week for like 2 hours a day for 2 1/2 years with 45 min of cardio a day and after the 2 hour cardio/weight training I would play basketball for an hour. In other words once I got my diet down and really learn what harm I was doing to myself I started noticing some very nice strength gains and noticed that I stayed lean with out all the cardio.

Goto the diet area of this board and you'll find alot of help there, I've learned a lot in the short time I've been here and I knew a lot about diet coming in.

Read up-eat up and enjoy your self.

Keep us informed on how things are going for you.

honestly bro. Just increase your calories but keep it clean. You don't have to get fat too add muscle (although it is easier).

i.e. instead of having 3/4 cup oats and 1 cup of cottage cheese, have 1.25 cups of oats and 1.5 cups of cottage cheese. still clean enough and should add mass.

JKURZ, these guys are right bro. Just increase the calories and keep them clean. And for god's sake, take a fucking day off every once in a while!

im all over it...thats all I needed.a swift kick in theass from you guys everytime works wonders....I'll stall out and feel fat in a few days, come back here and get another swift kick.........keep me stoked.

The mens health cover model is so friggn overrated and geigh.....abs? Decent stomach is all chicks want and thats all it takes to feel good....no need to be diced.......bigger gets much more attention, as LONG as you arent a fat ass....I got 0 respect for the dudes 270 and 280 with guts hanging out, sweaty and dirty benching 400....who friggn cares.

Now the 6 foot dude who is about 2 and a quarter repping 315 like it was butter is where all my respect goes!!

Good advice from everyone above.

You just need to relax, eat and lift. Its's all mental bro, and it just may be really hanging you up mentally. You can do it.

You know, people do get addicted to their routines and going to the gym/exercise is not immune. It's happened before. I knew a former competitor that exhibited similar behavior (regimented diet, no days off, compulsion to go, etc...). It didn't take too many visits to a shink for him to point out addication here.

You mention it above "coping with an eating and physique disorder." I'm really more concerned with the overall balance and quality of your life than I am about your diet or strength loss. It's real nice to look good and be healthy but it looks kind of like its taken over your life. Your body doesn't define you, it's just there to walk you around and get your stuff done. I don't want to come off like a dick but, take a vacation from it. Get away for a bit. Think about your life, the kind of person you want to be, and your goals. Put things in perspective and then redesign your approach to match what you came up with - you'll probably be a lot happier and look back on this change years later as something that really did you good.

One question is it really that hard to bench 350 plus?
How hard would 'that hard' be? I think it mostly depends on how strong you are.
There's got to be more to this question...

Um ive hit 315 for 15. Couse I ate everything I could see in those days. But hey I could still see my abbs pushing through my belly fat giving me a kind of fake abb look. LOL.
