we really lift weights and use steriod for attention from the opposite sex. some people say they lift for other reasons but it because of cosmetic reasons. we want to lose or gain weight to look a certain way to attract someone. I know some of you are in denial but deep inside we know that it is true. whoever lift for different reasons please reply

I lift for a lot of reasons.

If I DO NOT lift... my metabolism is so freakin high I wilt away to nothing. 3.5 months ago I was down to 180 pounds. I felt like if I got into any kind of physical altercation with it would end with me on the worse end of the deal. Thats not usually the way it is with me hehe. Im an agressive, very physical person (former D1 college football player). So I said screw this, I gotta get some size back on me. So I hit the gym hard.

I lift for me. For the self confidence it gives me. I am married and could care less about the cosmetic side of it (now... this wasnt always the case of course). But I do like that anytime I step out of the shower, or have my clothes off I can see my wife drooling over me out of the corner of my eye. It rocks. It makes me feel like the man.

I also lift because of the overall energy that I have while I am working out. I feel phenomenoly 10 x's better when I have been working out consistently than when I havent been.

Just overall, lifting makes me feel good about myself in so many ways... To say I do it for the opposite sex alone would be innacurate. Lifting helps me keep the depression of daily life at bay! :chomp:

you gained 130 lbs in 3.5 months?

I HONESTLY started lifting to get out of my 138 pounds of weakling stage so more women would give me looks. And honestly, it worked GREAT..... I feel i can now protect the woman I am with, vs. being scared all the time cauz i was a twig. Now i lift cauz im addicted to the pain and pleasure of getting big.....Its a hobby

I've re-read my post... and although i've been at work for almost 9 hours now lookin at these 2 damn screens all day...I dont think my eyes are too tired to read clearly but maybe they are, lol.

I was down to 180 pounds 3.5 months ago. I have gained 25 pounds during tht time and I am currently at 206.

Dunno where the 130 pound reference came from Cy. :Chef:

If I trained for girls I wouldn't train at all. I would just diet and stay lean with no muscle. That's what most of them like. I train because I love it. I don't feel right if I don't train. I'm also a very goal oriented person. I need to constantly have another goal to attain.

I lift for two reasons: Get stronger so that I can show off to other guys hahaha... Look great so that it's fun as hell getting attention when I go out. Doesn't mean I NEED gear to get girls, I don't. I have the personality for that, but I think it's funny when I'll be at a beach or just walking around with a t shirt and girls turn ;)

If I was lifting to attract a girl I'd be pretty depressed since I broke up with the last one 18 months ago, and havn't had one since. I initially started because I was skinny and hated it and hated feeling weak. No, I lift to be bigger and stronger than the people around me and because it helps in some of the work I do. I also plan to live a long time and I like being healthy. If I *had to* include attracting the opposite sex in my reasons for lifting, it'd probabily make it to 3rd on a good day.

Assertive Guy

I do lift to get attention from the opposite sex, but there are more important reasons than that I do it. I do it because it makes ME proud of MYself and of the way I look and what I can do. Most importantly I attribute lifting to be one of the two major things that saved my life when I was a teen, so if thats not a good enough reason then what else would be?

Lift for the pussy, intimidation, and respect. All these are my reasons for lifting, oh and for personal health and stuff.

I lift because it keeps me strong, healthy, and motivated. Attracting women is just a side-effect. Sometimes I think it was easier to get girls when I didn't lift anyway. If I don't lift, and I wasn't in shape, I'd go crazy and I'll feel like shit. For me it's become a lifestyle, and I would never consider dropping it unless i absolutely had to.

Agreed.

I've been slacking lately, but lifting isn't about how others look at you. If it is, then you have a self esteem problem.

For the rest of us, lifting is about taking care of yourself, and taking pride in the fact that you do a good job of it.

I crave the attention, no doubt about it. For the opposite sex? I did, not anymore. Something about standing out in a crowd of average day joe's that keeps me going. It's a lifetime commitment, I love the sport/art, everything about it draws me in.

I lift because I want to live. After the chemo for cancer I couldn't bend at the waist my body was so damaged. All I could do was sit in a chair or lay on a bench. So that's what I did. It's been twenty one months now and I look great. I train balls to the walls all the time because I know if I don't I'm going to die a slow horrible painful death.

I was happily married young, long before I seriously began to lift. I don't want sexual attraction from other women per se. I do admit that I like the sheer admiration both men and women give you when you are amazing. It's like being a god.

Now I see it as part of opening myself up to becoming a better person on many levels. It has improved my marriage, my health, my business success and my discipline in other hobbies. Hardcore bodybuilding frees people. In my odd opinion, that's why it had to be hampered, hamstrung and made illegal in the fullest version of the art.

You're a champion plain and simple, keep at it mate. Might not seem much for you but it is inspiring for some if not most. Bright future ahead if you keep training and thinking with a positive attitude like that.

I think if the guy that posted first did any real training he would see how hard it is to utillze time to keep a steady woman and realize 90 percent of us do it for ourselves lol... and to those of u with long lasting relationships god bless the women that cook ur high protien meals and put up with ur late nights out (to the gym) sorry guys had to ramble a lil haha

From about the age of 5 ive been training whether it be boxing, hockey, track, etc. Been lifting weights since ive been 9, cant miss out ... just kills me mentally.

ps... its nice to be able throw around almost any guy my age as well haha

pps.. yeah, when i boxed and was much smaller and leaner broads seemed to be more attracted to me. whatever
