correct, he and nate train @ team quest. Chris is also a trainer there and has wrestling experience. I saw a few attempts at a Kimura submission on Chris's part, which is more that I can say I saw Crotchcheck do.
That fight was a dissapointment on 3 levels for me:
1. Crotchcheck's Lay and Pray - he couldn't do shit except lay on top of him...this isn't wrestling, it is fighting and he will get owned in the future (hopefully by Leben in a grudge match @ the grudge match finale of the show) b/c he lacks ability to finish the fight. Lay and Pray, Lay and Pray....as Chris said it himself, nobody wants to see that kind of fighter.
2. The Ref - He didn't stand the fighters up as often as he should. In Pride, Crotchcheck would have been stood up much quicker than that for not advancing position! What makes this worse is that a.) There was only 2 rounds in the fight, which is an even shorter timeframe than a regular fight, and b.) UFC's rules are flawed so that this Lay and Pray bullshit is easier to get away with.
3. CHRIS DIDN'T HAVE HALF THE AGRESSION I THOUGHT HE'D HAVE!!! I thought he would be like a rabid animal going after his victim, but it appears as if he spent too much time cautiously feeling out Crotchcheck...I am sure the fact that he knew Crotchcheck was looking to take him down every second of the fight didn't help out much either. I am willing to bet that if this fight had more rounds (which it should have had!), Chris would have KO'd him, b/c he WAS stuffing a lot of Josh's takedowns....He just needed more time to land his blow.
If you want to see Chris Leben how he really fights..check out his Highlight video:
