Leg Press Pain..????

I started experiencing abdominal pain while doing leg presses??? Never have I had this problem but up until 2 weeks ago, everytime i went in deep (like normal) It felt like i was crushing my ribs (and its not the weight im using because i lowered that too just in case)...when i get up off the leg press machine after doing the presses i feel like i couldnt catch my breath...Have a hard time breathing almost like someone just punched me in the stomach and knocked the wind out of me...the feeling last for almost the entire workout....explinations?? has anyone ever experienced this?

Breathing is fine...I've done leg presses many of times!! breathing is on point...tried that too...no help...no i dont have any allergies at all...but yes, i do feel the intense pressure on my diaphram...when im done with the set, i have a hard time breathing...only breathing deeply helps somewhat..

when you are punched in the solar plexus/diaprhagm...it causes the diaphragm to contract (ie. knock the wind out of you)...think of all the reps you are doing by pushing your internal organs up against your diaphragm.

Nate's described exactly what was happening to me when I had the problem.

I was psyched about putting respectable platage on the sled but what I ended up doing was changing my form. I still wanted to go deep, but I hadn't any experience at this weight so I started overcompensating as a form of insurance. I'd slightly changed both my foot position and especially the way I was sitting in the seat of the press so that the weights had no choice but to come down at an unfortunate angle.

I don't know if this is your problem as well. It could be some type of bad habit you've picked up along the way somewhere. I worked out my problem by doing high rep sets at lighter weights for a couple weeks, paying attention to how I set up. When I had 're-learned' the way I press I added back the extra plates.

Also you may have bruised a rib or somethign in there - I noticed that one time a few yrs ago - couldn't figure out what it was because it didn't hurt when I did everything else - just deep leg press.

Your form may have changed as suggested above. I'd watch it & see if it goes back to normal in a few weeks.

Thanks lguys!!! I switched my leg positioning while doing it and it help alot...I also forgot to mention that for the last 2 weeks i have had this severe "painful" bloat going on...kind of like a mild case of food poisoning...My stomach felt full of "air" ... but when i would get to the gym it would go away...this could have also caused the pain too...

Yeah that bloating will place more pressure on the diaphragm.

For me, what gets me is the tree sperm. No joke. When I do leg presses or lay down for too long, I get fluid build-up from allergens in my lungs.

since ive gotten stronger ive stopped doing wide stance deep led presses

i keep my feet about 6-8 inches apart and go deep enough to where my thighs are flat against my belly and chest. i seem to feel it more in the teardrops and outerh thighs this way.

i just squat ass to grass to hit the hip complex, adductors, upper quads and glutes
