Anyone ever suffered a Glenoid Labrum Tear?

I just got a call from my doctor today, who did my shoulder surgery and he said I had a bad tear.

Now I know why I was having so much pain.:(

We fix these all the time. They are also known as SLAP lesions. They are a pretty common problem among throwing athletes, swimmers, and older people. They are also a very easy fix. Definately have it done arthroscopically, it will cut recovery time in half. Also get a second opinion and be sure that your Dr is a shoulder specialist. I work with a shoulder specialist twice a week doing Slaps and Bankhart lesion repairs, you definately do not want an amateur at arthroscopy fooling around with your shoulder. PM me if you need anything else.

My doctor already fixed it when he done the ac surgery, it was arthroscopic. I was just wondering if anyone had experience with it.

i have a small slap tear in each of my shoulders. they said i'll have to have surgery, but we're putting it off as long as possible. :( i take glucosamine and had to lower my weights on upper body :(

As far as a slap lesion goes, it has to be pretty severe to warrent surgery. You would be surprised as to how many people actually have this and dont even know about it. This is why doing a good rotator cuff workout with each shoulder workout is so important. If your Dr said you definately have to have surgery, and you have no symptoms of having an unstable shoulder, I would definately get a second opinion.
