Hey all.. just wanted to throw out a quick hey to everybody here and tell you a little about myself..

my big bro got me on these boards and i give him props because he is an animal himself.. (shades mccool)

anyways, i recently stop playing college football here at Auburn University.. i had been playing for the past 3 years as a running back, but do to me actually wanting to do something with my life instead of just having football to fall back on, i started an intership at a pretty big company and hopefully will continue it during the fall..

currently im 20, about to be 21 in a month.. 5'8, 167.. i know, small, but i really dont care considering the hell i have gone through in the in past 3 years (conditioning and training wise) .. but i plan to put on an extra 20lbs here this summer since i dont have to run every single day at 6am like last summer..

i know you peeps on here know what you are talking about, so i definitely will be asking a bunch of questions.. and if yall have any questions about a college footballs weight program or anything along the lines of that, i will be more than happy to tell you how dumb it really was.. i dont want to sound bas by saying this, but college football weight training is not for power or for weight gaining, its for stamina, which sucks if you want to get big..

BUT i am started this Bill Star 5x5 workout, thanks to big brother, so im definitely looking forward to it..

sooo talk to me kids, im an open book

Oh and you aren't from Australia.

Welcome! Regarding this,

I know I say (or will say) this a lot, but it's why we made the big-arse training sticky. Madcow's site in particular will give you an idea where the people here are coming from in terms of training theory. It looks like you've made a good program choice with the linear 5x5, and everyone here is more than willing to offer guidance if you have any specific questions about it.

And, speaking of stickies, you did notice the "introduce yourself" one, right? ;)

Haha I told him to use this one. I think he meant you are free to ask him questions about training on a D1 football team that has been a BCS contender for the last couple of years. He is happy to shed light on what they did (rough rough stuff).

Gotcha.

There are a few guys here (BiggT, Guinness, probably some others) who played in HS, but for a lot of us anything you have to say is new information. An outline of where resistance workouts are placed relative to games, practices, other conditioning work, etc. would be welcome. Most of the guys here notice when things like sprints or throwing a football around affect their recovery. So, I guess I'm interested in how strength training fits in when it's a secondary/instrumental activity rather than a primary one.

Hey! Shades JR! Welcome to EF!

Another Cancer too!

Sounds like you are off to a good start w/ the linear 5x5. And you know someone is going to ask you about your diet.... !

Oh yea, we need Before & After pix.... ask Shades about me & the pix thing....;)

OK, really I"m not a pervert...

Anyway -- welcome to EF!

Welcome aboard, from what people say, the S and C staff can make or break your college sports lifting experience. Some guys I've talked to even have to find a balance between keeping the coaches happy and training themselves the way they feel is best.

I even know guys (who knew they weren't going to the NFL anyway) choose throwing for the track team over football in college because they just love the weightroom that much, and they had more free time too.

I'd be interested in hearing how you trained and what you thought of the s and c staff.......and also your counterparts, Ronnie Brown and Cadillac Williams, lol.

Welcome aboard! I know nothing but act like I know everything. I'd be curious to hear about your S&C programs as well someday . . .
