just trained events today

man am i sore, this is the first time i have been able to come in and do more than just the tire flip for event day. my conditioning sucks, i have to drag my gpp into shape quick fast and in a hurry. a contest is different becuase of adrenline, and becuase of the fact that you go lighter, or take the week off the gym. nope, not today, i hit pr's friday and then trained today..... wow.

log press........tried to clean 245 but it wasnt happening. i could get up to my abs, just not to my chest. but i did get 215 for 1 with no rest after trying the 245.

farmers deadlift hold. 2 sets with 145lbs each hand on my thick handle farmers. first set 40 seconds, second set 45 seconds. then i loaded up 285 onto 1 farmer and held it with both hands touching each other. and held it for 50 seconds.

tire flip - i sucked today becuase i havent ate well today and im not used to this many events, but i only flipped the 600lb tire for about 50 feet. dont know time, just happy i moved it!!!!!

Great job man. that 215 clean must have taken a lot out of you man. Especially after the previoous attempt!

Congrats on the PR brother. That tire is big as hell! As for the farmers, you may as well be a farmer with a grip like that. :) Good job man! :)

thanks hammer......... i gotta train hard, that way i can get some braggin rights over the hammer....lol

i dont know if were going to have to flip b folds 550 tire or the 675. but my cardiovascular is really off. anyone coming to the contest i feel i really need to express to you the importance of your lung capacity. the stones, and medley will be murder.

oh yeah, the log was very hard.

Where did you get your 600 lb tire, and how much did it cost?

:)

Gotta work on conditioning!!!!

with almost 4 weeks to train and eat I hope they would be easier than if I tryed them now ;) cause if not I will be in trouble:bawling:

Ok:)

I have designed everything so it is 'doable' yet you will feel like you are going to die still... When it is over you will feel like death yet VERY PROUD that you competed.

Exodus,

Keep working hard at always give it 110 percent. . .thats what it takes to improve in those type of events. You have to put your body through hell, but you will get used to it!

Anyway, keep up the good work!!

keep hittin it hard exodus and work on the speed for the medley.

thanks guys. im just feeling a little beat up right now. feel like im not training hard enough. this is the hardest training i have ever done. i have no one here to help me. i am kinda lost. with bodybuilding i had plenty of people to watch and learn from in the gym. with powerlifting, there are few and far between to learn from, and the ones that are there have never heard of wsb. then on top of that no, i mean no one that i have ever met, heard, read, seen or anything in alabama, trains strongman. so in essence...................................................

........................................i am alone.

so its kinda getting to me. i have my lovely wife Trinity 73 to train with me. but she is learning by what i teach her. so i have no mentor, B Fold is the closest thing i have to a mentor, but he's 6 hours away. im just a little low at the moment, thanks, for letting me have a pitty party.

you have this entire board and b is a great mentor even if he was a million mi away. i know what ya mean. on a few of the events i felt like there is no way i can do those. but where theres a will theres a way and just like b told me"you just have to want it bad enough" stick with it and stick with is 110% man and you will come out just fine

hey, i've only had a few event days myself....but that's ok...you work at it hard enough you progress quickly especially after you start doin events.....sure has helped my recovery too.

yeah i know, i'm already feeling a little better. i just have a list next to me where i work of what i have to do for the contest. and sometimes it just overwhelms me. my grip is like something haunting me. it just intimidates me know what weights i'll have to hold

Strongman training = FUN!

I got the opportunity to train the events with Exodus and Trinity yesterday. Let me just say, that I had an absolute awesome time. Don't tell the wife, but I think I am hooked.

Don't let him fool you, Exodus tore it up out there yesterday. I was very impressed. He did all of those events with a very short rest between each. Like we tried to tell him, at a contest you have at least 30 minutes break between each event.

After one week of working out, here's what I was able to do:

I cleaned and pressed 149 on the log three times. Then I failed twice to clean and press 171.

On that 145 each hand farmer's hold that Exodus held for 40 and 45 seconds, I couldn't even pick it up. I did hold 122 each hand for 39 seconds. My grip is terrible.

Then, I flipped the 600 lb tire 5-6 times. That is the most exhausting thing I believe I have ever done. After you finish, you feel like your lungs are going to collapse. But, man it's a lot of fun.

After that, without eating anything (do'h), the wife and I went to church. I literally felt like I was going to pass out in the middle of the service. Thankfully, I made it through. Don't ask me what the message was about though. All I could think about was food. :)

thanks bud, trinity73 gave me the same words of encouragement. and i wouldnt have even complained but for the tire, one thing im good at, if i had not sucked at it. but oh well. im going to do some more grip work and sprinting today.

Would love too. Maybe not to compete (I'd get crushed), but at the very least to be a spectator. However, I will be out of town on a work trip that day.

Never EVER fear not winning...EVER. Remember...I have won a few contests and will probably NEVER win another contest in my life...

Very true.

Maybe I should have said something like, I'm just not physically ready. By contest time, I will have only been working out for a month. Not nearly enough time to train for something like that.
