Just spent $48 on an oil change

5 qts Castrol 5w-20 syntec full synthetic motor oil = $27.13
Motorcraft oil filter= $3.56
Labor = $17.31

Knowing that you have the best protection available when you're sitting in New Orleans' post Katrina bumper to bumper traffic = PRICELESS :)

LOL, i just spend 58 on my corvette....it required mobil1 synthetic or warranty is void....why do you need full synthetic in a ranger? do they require it?

If you go to walmart and pay for them to change your oil, they take 4 hours, that would be like 100 bucks
good thing they dont charge labor

That's debatable. New Corvettes, Vipers, and other high performance cars come from the factory with Mobil 1 full synthetic. "Break in" is accomplished pretty quickly with today's manufacturing tolerances.

In the bumper to bumper traffic I've been experiencing I really wanted to get synthetic in the truck.

didn't read your post, you answered my question....synthetic is good i agree, especially if you plan on keeping the vehicle an extended period of time, although some manufacturers recommend not using synthetic until well after the break in period.

5 qts in a 2.3 liter seems a bit much.

Yeah it only took 4 qts but I purchased 5 for the first oil change. I'll only have to purchase 3 next time.
