Here are some pics from about a year ago, before I finally got back into lifting religously like I am now. I think I was about 155-160lbs in these pics.

Now here are some pics after my 1st bulking cycle, i'm currently at 193-194lbs, up 25-26 from where i started 7 weeks ago. The pictures are not as good in quaility of the other ones. Lighting sucked. Here they are.

Actually haven't been in the sun for a long time. I think its the lighting and higher blood pressure from the test i'm taking. Need to hit the tanning beds. I really look the color of the 1st set of pictures. LOL

Congrats viper! You look great.. going from a very good athletic physique to a real BBer's build. Nice work bro. Excellent size, definition and proportions in your upper body! :)

Now I need some pics of the wheels. I've got no definition in my legs. The inner quad that meets the knee has always been huge, but the outside teardrop is something i'm trying to work on. I've been putting a lot of work into my calves also which has really been a lagging part for years, stupid me never worked them like I should have. I'll get up some leg shots up soon, but i'm going to remove some hair first.

Thanks for all the replies, help me out with some critisism (sp). Anything that needs work? I'm sure theres gotta be something.

Viper

Considering you gained 25 lbs viper, and you maintained good proportions, I might say your lats and arms could use a bit more work, but that's not criticism because the pics are a bit blurry and if you cut a bit, I'm sure the lean muscle mass will be more obvious.

Yeah thats something I noticed, almost no bicep bulge what so ever. What do you think is the best lift for lats? I'm packing mass onto my back with deadlifts now and will probably be starting a new routine incorparating wide grip pull downs. Anything better for the lats?

Viper

Wide grip lat pulldowns, wide grip weighted pull ups and one arm DB bent over rows are definitely worth doing. But your back is in very decent shape. I think it will become more defined once you drop BF a couple %. Same applied to your bicep peak. Maybe do some hammer curls. That helps me :)

Thanks again for the replies and positive comments.

I started to somewhat start a cutting cycle now and good god I can tell you that eating a lot less and cutting out carbs is really hard. I had a very hard leg workout today and i was completely exhausted. I'm going to basically carb deplete for 3/4 days and then have a carb up day, but i haven't worked out the details.

Viper

Well with my metabolism and body type i've never had to worry much about cutting, i've always been fairly lean all my life. Women hate me sometimes because I eat whatever I want and don't seem to gain any fat. But with this cycle I ate more than I have ever eaten before. Getting a solid 5k calories and 400+g protein a day is a chore, thankfully my protein shakes yeilded 1k calories, 26g fat,52g carbs, and 132g Protein. Finding food that contains no carbs is another story. I've been busy the past few days so i'll get back to you on the e-mail as soon as possible.

Viper

Sure PM me with your e-mail addy, it will be a long read so I don't want to post all of it on the board.

Also anyone got any guesses what my BF% are from the 1st of photos and what you think they are at on the 2nd pics? I've never had BF checked before so I really have no clue. I've got one of those Tanita(piece of crap) scales, but we all know how accurate those are!

Viper

I'm guessing you were 9-10% in your before pics, and possibly 14-15% in the more recent ones. You added so much mass though, so it's hard to tell from the pics. I use those Tanita scales as well, and I think they give an ok estimate , as long as you're consitent about when you measure. At least they provide a guide for relative comparisons..lol And I still don't see anything to criticize :)

Good, now why? Is it the funny faces? LOL j/k

I'm looking for critisism here so let me have it.

I guess you look more like myself in the first set. The second set looks a little fat. Okay a lot fat. Maybe because they're darker. But I'm sure if you get back to shape.

Well it was a bulking cycle so what do you expect? My goal was not to eat clean food just to gain clean, lean muscle. I wanted to pack on as much muscle as possible so I ate everything. It ate mostly chicken, beef, fish patties, and protein shakes. But once a week I would load up on carbs from eating 2 1/2lb Hamburgers and 2 plates of Thick Potato fries at a local restraunt, because shit a 1/2lb burger and fries for $3.99 you cannot go wrong at Niffers on a Thrusday(Burger Night). I'm starting to cut now so we'll see how it goes and what I can get to show back up in the next few weeks. I'll try to keep up and post weekly pics. Hopefully I can get some better lighting going on or a friend to take the photos.

RNCH, what are your thoughts, you also said you like the earlier pics. Why?

If your goal was to put on as much mass as possible.........I'd say you did a fantastic job in achieving it. You also look to be holding quite a bit of excess water, but that can be taken care of fairly easily. Good news is (based on your after pics) most of your "fat" gain seems to be centered around your belly...(potentially because of the bloat)...so you've been able to fend off love-handle gain which for me can be a problem when bulking. If your able to stip off the excess fat (return to your before bf% or better) and still maintain your gaines, all in all you've done extremely well. Seriously bro, tremendous size you put on there.

I personally prefer to bulk, but I do so cautiously (i.e. eat extremely clean, so as to try to avoid as much fat gain as is possible). For me this works better, because while I still might gain some (minimal amounts of fat), in the end, its much easier to get back to the lean look while maintaining the hard earned quality gains while bulking.

Dude you did great.

Imagine how much bigger your going to be when you get back down your previous bodyfat. It's a process!

How tall are you? I'm guessing 5'8

I'm 5'9 1/2"

Yeah i'm working on the leaning process now. Trying to perfect my diet and figure out how much cardio to do. Next week my workout program will be going thru a major overhaul. I'm still stuck on the gain strength/mass phase, but today was the last workout of that and on to higher intensity/lighter weights/more reps workout. We'll see how it goes.

Great chest. How much do you bench?

I have no clue. I almost never max out. I just go by the progress I make on my last set of BB Bench press. I do about 8 sets total including warmup now and the last set I did the other day was 255x6 so I would guess somewhere in the 285-310 range, who knows? Thats probably my weakest point as far as strength goes. I probably squat near 500, deadlift 450, leg press??? I do about 8 sets after I've already done 8 sets on squats working up to 2 sets of 375x5 and then hit 900 for a set of 8 as my last set of legpress. I wish they would make those things with longer bars so you can put on more weights. I'm stuck doing a bunch of sets at the moment before I become somewhat fatigued.

Is that the way you've always trained?

Well for the past year or so I haven't been concerned with what my max is. I use a rep max to calculate it, but again I use the last set of my workout to determine that.

looking good........

some suggestions..

A) biceps are lagging behind shoulders.......
B) lats look good, traps are lagging a bit....
C) won't comment on abs because your bulking.....
D) lets see some wheels

Crapy pictures, but here they are. Wish the lighting would have been better and have closer pics.

I have to agree bro. You're physique looked perfect before. When i first saw the first pic i thought to myself "if i can achieve that - ill be happy" . I guess im just not real hyped on the hypertrophied look. Either way- great results for you- props.

Yeah I definately like to look before too, but with taking steroids and bulking the body is going to undergo some major physical changes. I have always been a hard gainer so I had to eat like I've never eaten before. I did not eat junk food on a regular basis, but rather clean sources of protein and a lot of milk which I probably could have changed to skim milk instead of 2% as that would have cut down on my fat content. I did not do any cardio during this time either. Everything in the 1st pic was all natural. Only thing I did was Xenadrine and some creatine from time to time, but I hated creatine because I had to drink ungodly amounts of water to keep from getting dehydrated. I hope that in the next 2 months I will transform to a leaner physique. I will be finishing my cycle and starting PCT near the end of this month and expect to see some of the bloat disappear. I really appreciate everyones comments. I first posted because I was proud of my accomplishments in mass but was moved by the gains in fat to seek opinions to help my motivation change to leaning up. I can't thank you guys enough for your opinions here. Again thanks.

Chest looks massive in those first pics. You may not look as good now, but you definitely put on some good size. Once you get some of the fat gains off you're gonna look just as good as earlier except thicker. That's the only way to do it, can't look perfectly cut all year round and gain a lot of mass. Keep up the great work, dude!

Working on it for sure, did my first cutting workout yesterday. It was so hard to switch motives from mass/strength to lean/endurance lifting. I did chest, triceps, abs yesterday. I felt like a weakling when I got so fatigued with the weights I was using. Last set working down the ladder to 135 on bench press was awful. I think I pumped out 6 good reps before my chest and arms couldn't go anymore.

Any comments on the shitty leg pics?

Viper

You look good in both set of pics. I think people are saying you look fat because in the second set of pics it looks like you let your belly hang lol...but in the last pic of the second set you can tell that you are not that chubby around the waist. I still see ab shadows haha, so you're good. :)

We'll in general all the pics suck. I need to save some $$ for a good Digi. I agree, all I need to do is get back on track. I've been out of the gym for about 2 weeks now. Sometimes life has a way of derailing your train. Things are getting back to normal now so time to get back in there and release my built up tension. I"m excited.

Viper

Train derailment or no train derailment, don't think we're letting you off the hook that easily Viper!! Your leg pics look great, and even the poor quality of the webcam doesn't hide your good sized wheels:)

Yo ... I think you are making considerable gains, but when are you going to do a cutting cycle and what are you going to use ???

Relevent questions considering what some people have said !!!

peace out mermermer

Well I'm cutting now, but I'm not going to be using any AAS. I've got to lay off of the juice for at least the next 3 months. Time on=Time off. I'm simply changing up my routine, more reps/less weight and adding in some cardio 4x week. I will be trying Mr.X's ANPB Diet. I'll see how well it goes in the next few weeks.

Viper

I agree with Apollo. You looked better in the before pictures. Now, you look smooth, like you drink too much beer. You have a belly now and you had a flat stomach before. If you entered a contest, the old you would destroy the larger new you. You gained too much weight too quickly. Now, you will have to diet off the bad weight. If you are lucky, you may get to keep a few pounds of LBM, afterwards. The high blood pressure should be giving you a warning sign that what you did hasn't been a healthy experience for your system, as well.
