I said right form the start, this is a very fundamental belief -- one where people will admittedly ignore logic, because it depends on faith. I would have let it go long ago but milplank get riding me and, well, I'm not one to back down.

Now I have my belief and you have yours. But because I do not acknowledge what you believe you see it as "bashing". Of course... because it means a lot to you and I'm saying it doesn't exist. (Because there's no evidence of it existing.)

So you see bro -- it's one of those things where if someone doesn't agree with you, they don't just have a different opinion -- they're dismissing your very belief. Anyone disagreeing is the antagonist.

So just as you're asking me to respect your right to believe, I will ask you to respect my right not to believe.

re read your rants back and forth with plank bud... you most certainly did bash and mock... like i said no harm done to me personally.. i just think your wrong for it... takes more than a few harsh words to hurt my feelings.

on the other hand i give you credit... takes a lot of balls to speak whats in your mind and heart as far as faith is concerned in a room full of people with some sort of faith/religion.. all i ask is that you respect the people who do have faith... its just common respect and a very touchy subject. i think u know that already.

I agree 100%... Nelson you are acting like everyone is pointing fingers at you and trying to make you look dumb. That's not at all what this is about... if you want people to respect your opinion, show some respect to theirs.

I honestly don't know how I feel about the whole religion thing... but I respect people's opinions, and I think it's incredibly unfair to mock someones beliefs that they have lived their life based on.

Well, what can I say other than I think you're wrong -- not in your belief, but in the accusation.

NEVER ONCE DID I MOCK OR SAY ANYONE SHOULDN'T BELIEVE OR SHOULD BELIEVE AS I DO.

But that is exactly what a lot of religious people do. And that was my point.

And I repeat, I was beaten as a child by nuns and priests so when someone tells me I must accept Jesus as my savior I got a problem with that and I will say so.

I just want to be happy and do good and want others in my circle to do the same.

A topic just asking for antagonism because it's such a fundemental belief.

But okay, I'll play.

I went to catholic school and by age 9 I could not understand why I had to have faith in the words of a primitive civilization from 2000 years ago.

I also will never understand how african americans can be devout christians when that is the belief of their captures. I just don't get it.

I aslo don't get when people say PROVE there is no god. Well, you cannot disprove what does not exist. I cannot PROVE that there are no unicorns. It's a flawed line of thinking. Proof is in the claim.

Bottom line -- give me some evidence. There isn't one shred of evidence that god exists or does anything. If that doesn't matter , no amount of logic or reasoning will change your mind.

I don't have the answers. No one does. Claiming so doesn't make it so. Everything else is a lie. Or delusion.

Atheists want to be rational about everything except rationality itself – they want to bind them and us (actually really just us) to a philosophical system with no foundation that essentially denies the existence of humanity itself. But that water man will never get out of the ocean on his water ladder, and it takes a mind independent of the physical world to truly understand it.
I have have grown up Catholic and have been my entire life.. Being a woman and watching a baby grow inside me is far from just "science"!!
It's GOD!... I feel sorry for you and it always goes back to the parents because what u never were taught you just don't get it.. u werent built with that foundation...and as a grown man u struggle to believe whats real and what's not! As successful as you may be, you lack so much!
