just not in the groove

do you guys ever have days were you just cant get in the groove?
did my 5x5 squats today, and it just never felt right

of course bro...all the time

i think these are the days where u lower the weight, increase the reps, increase intensity, and just look for a good pump...im not talking laxed but this ussually gets me pretty into it after the first exercise or so

yeah, it wasnt heavy weights though
i should probably just take it in stride, but its just not great for my psyche

Yeah, workouts like that definitely happen, you ust gotta lift through it. But look at it this way - how could you appreciate good workouts, if there were no bad ones?

this is sooo true....ive never even thought of it this way

Yeah bro,I have to amp myself up yell a bit.Music helps and also thinking about being average pisses me off enough to get me pumping hard.I watched a Lou Ferringo,Ferrigno? movie and that was all the motivation i needed.

I feel that way everyday on Leg day. After I do squats, im better sometimes.

leg day last week I was like that,I got to my second warm up set and it felt like I was maxing,I was pissed,so I went to my regular weight, put on some hard tunes and pounded out 12 of the most excrutiating(sp) reps Ive ever done, when the week before I only got 6,and the rest of my workout was great I was totally in the zone

i try to work on finding the groove if it means going through my whole workout over again thats what i do..less weight but it dont matter..no sense in going through the "wrong" motions..

It is extremely elpful during these times to have training partners that know how to squat as well..i wish i had one :)

i had my groove today (squat day) but i just felt like shit the entire workout. not a sick feeling, but on my last rep of the first set i had one of those reps that feel like it takes practically 30 seconds to push up to the top....and i knew i had 3 more sets of the same weight that i ahd to get the same amount of reps for, so i went into each set with intense dread...the music helps ignore it tho

you and me both
if you are ever in minneapolis, let me know

Yeah, happens to me as well - particularly in high intensity phases when I'm treading the overtraining line. What I've found helpful is to tell myself that I'm just going to do an abbreviated workout, with only one or two exercises that I LIKE to do... That minimizes that feeling of dread, knowing you've got a long & hard workout ahead. It helps take the pressure off and usually results in a much better workout than I expected!

A training partner(s) is the ticket. Even on days when I'm tired as hell and don't want to workout, they give me good motivation. Of course, then seeing that hot girl watching me is good for the motivation, as well!
Just work through it like you did and stick to it. That's the key is just stick to it.

I hate those days, i feel like I am falling apart when that shit happens.
The way i get into the groove is by getting some real anger music playing on my minidisc player and then walk to the gym. Snow, rain, or sun i always walk to the gym...its soo crucial for me, its my time to just zone out and get into the mind set to kill all shit...

This is how i cope with my gravitational struggle.
