just had a shitty experience getting blood work done

I just got back from the doctor to get a blood test and it was a really $hitty experience. I am currently on 625mg test-e and 400mg deca and I wanted to go to make sure the doses were accurate based on my levels and that my gear is real.

First the girl doctor tells me I need to have a reason for them to do a blood test like this, so I have to tell her I am juicing. Of course her reaction was basically that I should stop and will do a lot of permanent damage, yadda yadda. So they give me the blood test, then after another doctor comes in (male). So here I am thinking finally someone with knowledge is coming in to talk to me about it. But noooo, the guy had no idea wtf deca was. I had to spell it out for him after he mispronounced it 10 times. And the whole time it looked like he thought he was talking to someone who was gonna die in a week bc I am taking steroids. wtffff I don't need a lecture from people who know far less than I do about AAS. I'm sure they will wipe the floors with me when it comes to subjects like cancer, but not AAS when they clearly haven't got a clue. I was basically educating them the whole time to show them I knew what I was doing

a couple of weeks ago i jammed a toe and had to go to the doc. I told him that im taking steroids and he basically blamed my jammed toe on the juice lol.

went to a doc once and said was clinically low, and a candidate for HRT

he said "go on the Atkins Diet"

then proceeded to flip out and tell him how stupid he was

same doc gave Norco vicodens like candy to people......go figure.....

not all medical professionals are willling to learn from atheltes like you guys. There is a lot of arrogance in the medical field and its really sad.

" to do no harm, to be a patient advocate" that's their job

it means to listen to the patient not themselves....

Lol I had the same sort of reaction from my doc when i went for blood tests after my first cycle. His words were "You need to stop injecting steroids now or Expect an early death bla bla fucking bla..."

Blood work came back fine within normal range.

You have to realize, these are people who spend years learning about diseases and treatments. And since steroids are no longer used for medical purposes, they know as much about them as the average schmo who watches Dr. Phil.

Doctors ARE shitty. They belong to a group called "scientists", which is nothing different from any religion. They follow and do what they have been told to follow and do.

That's why you avoid bringing the subject up, unless that's why you are going (to talk about your AAS use)... In that case, you go to a doctor that knows about them... They are out there.

Otherwise you don't mention AAS unless they absolutely need to know, ie: a life or death situation.

For insurance to cover some bloodwork, the doctor does have to have a reason. But if you are paying out of pocket, there need not be any discussion.

I have a doctor that I go to for real health problems..> And a quack who doesn't ask questions, that I go to when I need to get bloodwork and tests done without being hassled.

Sorry you had a shitty experience though.

This is why I go to a doctor who juices himself. He has trained professional bodybuilders who have won competitions as well. This guy is freakin' enormous. I've seen some celebrities in his waiting room too (baseball players, etc.), I won't tell which though. :D

Ive had a similar experience with a new dr at my medical centre, she was a foul mutt! She refused to give me a blood test because "i cant walk in and bark orders and tell her how to do her job" she told me at any moment i could just drop dead of a heart attack, she looked at an old test of mine and seen i had high CK (creatinine), i told her that was completely normal for a person like me with a physical job and trains hard regulary, but she wasnt having that she was convinced i had some cronic disease and ordered me to go get tested just for that!!! stupid bitch i walked out of there absolutely blowin up!! i tore the referall form up in front of her and told her to go back to her own fuckin country we dont want her she doesnt know shit!!! LOL

LOL I do the same!!

yep they are scared of the unknown , my GP is friends with my wife a GP so she just listens and goes along with what she doesnt know trusting i can give her the info she is lacking .

Brad.

well I was hoping insurance would cover it. He dropped a bomb on me at the end saying they might not and I could be hit with a bill. That was a shitty moment to say the very least. I wasn't gonna say shit until she said I couldn't get it unless I had a reason. In my head I was like, why the fuck would they allow me to schedule an appointment for a blood test if they wouldnt even let me do it.

forget the doctor. go to an acupuncturist next time. tell them you need a referral to get a testosterone test done. it will cost $150 from Qwest or some other testing facility.

and if they ask why tell them you are getting older and want to keep a record of your levels every couple years and make sure you things are okay.

yeah most of us live in the USA. where healthcare is for profit. and doctors and hospitals make millions and still bitch.

also every other commercial on tv is for prescription drugs.

Yeah i watched that documentary 'sicko' i think it was called, by the same guy who made the 9/11 documentary.

Your health care and prescription drug industry is an abomination!!!

I wrote this a year ago. Nelson Montana: Obama's Health Care Reform Won't Fly: But This Will

What ultimately happened was a bill was passed -- but it's a non-bill. It's exactly what we have now, except more people will be forced to buy it . It's no reform at all. The U.S. has the worst national health care of any of the industrialized countries.

I don't want t get into a political discussion, but when it comes to your health (and medical needs), you're on your own brothers. Educate yourselves!

thanks to the internet really the only reason to visit a doc is if you need something cut out.

and I agree with you Nelson, it doesn't go far enough.. but atleast its a start in the right direction and stops insurance companies from abusing us.

Well, I said I didn't want to get into a political thing, and I'll try not to make it one, but I don;t believe the insurance companies will be held to any standards. They aren't stupid. They hold the cards and they know it. They'll find a way to call the shots. The government handed them a blank check.

Sorry. I wish I could rejoice on the little good that this may promise, but it's a scam.

i got the same old lecture as yall and my reply after his 15 minute lecture was, "live fast die young leave a nice corpse" lol. he stared at me for a second and then i said, "so how 'bout that blood test!" lmfao.

that's not really how i feel i just had to let him know that his opinion about my use doesn't deter me in the slightest. if he had made one educated point i would have conceded that to him, but it was all doom and gloom and things he saw on the news which simply isn't true.

I don't have insurance, but if I did I'm not sure I would try to use it for blood work to get my test levels checked. There's a lab test company with an office downtown where you can walk in and order any test you want, and the prices are very reasonable. I've gone there before and will be back again after my cycle.

D

edit: just double-checked their website and the testosterone levels test is $80. There's a significant discount from that price if you can get a prescriber to order it.

Before I did my first cycle less than a year ago I had a blood test done and the doc gave me all kinds of crap saying "why do you need to test your testosterone, gh, or thryroid? You are a young healthy looking guy". I told him that I lifted weights and a high testosterone was beneficial for producing more muscle so I wanted to see what my levels were currently at. I proceded to tell him that I eat a lot of red meat, and took some suppliments that were supposed to help with 'natural' testosterone production. He gave me a dissapproving look when I said that. I got my blood results back with slightly higher testosterone than the range they suggest. His comment on my printed out results were "recommend stopping supplements that can increase testosterone levels", as if this is a bad thing.... wtf. More like, consider NOT commenting on something you know absolutely nothing about doc!! lol

LMAO! nice wolfman..

To play devil's advocate for a minute: there are side effects associated with elevated test levels (setting aside for a moment the exaggerations that are the widely viewed thoughts on them). What percentage of the population are bodybuilders? 1%, if that?

Consider that pcp's typically cater to the non-bb'ing community (by nature of there being so few of us), and throw in a healthy number if retards who are 20 and want to take test so they can have a 6-pack for summer, and if I was a doctor I would have a pretty solid opinion on steroid users.

Among those who use aas, how many get them from a friend and just shoot up va coming to a site like this and doing some research? I would have to think that an educated aas user, while common here, is a rarity in the big picture.

Sorry if this is disjointed, being coherent on an iPhone isn't easy.
