I will be experimenting all week as soon as I find some fish sauce......

Who likes Thai food?

There this dessert with sticky rice, cocconut milk, mangos, mixed berries and mint. :p :p :p

I read a book once.

It wasnt for me.

I order a Thai Cooking Kit.....that comes with a cook book. Good stuff.
I had never had rice noodles before. Don't add to much curry sauce..
The fish oil is good, I don't like fruit with fish.

Thai is good I love Vietnamese food, damn the prep time though! Same as japanese food. You spend 4 hours preparing and a half an hour eating. Well worth it though.

I enjoy it, but i pay for it with heartburn and indigestion anytime i have it.

Spicy food doesn't agree with me unfortunately.

Same here. I enjoy Thai food, but Vietnamese food is great!! We use to have this little place down the road from me, run by this old Vietnamese couple, and they had some of the best food. :p

Velvett,

You can get Nam Pla (patis fish sauce) at almost any Korean Deli. The Viet Namese version is called Nuoc Nam, basicly the same stuff, the Thai vesion is a bit stronger. I think the joint is the Japanese stuff, ShottSuru, and that should be all over your neigborhood... your on the West Side, no? Just go to little Korea and snap some up.

If not, anyplace down in that little japan area in the forties just west of Grand Central will do... chinatown will have it, but that might be a bit of a haul. Postive Zabars and Gourmet Garage have it...

If you want to guarantee the total freshness, and see the best food/fish mega store: go to that wicked Japanese grocery store right on the river in Fort Lee.... can't remember the name of it, but it is TOTALLY worth the trip, the choice and quality of Japanese ingredients will amaze. Grade AA Toro? No problem. Shiso so fresh it snaps? Ginger Shoots? Fresh Konbu to make your own Dashi? How about a dozen or so different kinds/strengths of Bonito Flakes?

Too too cool.

"Tell me what you eat and I will tell you who you are... some turn what they eat into hard work and good humor, some turn what they eat into God... I turn what I eat into both. I am not one of the worst, nor am I one of the best, just happy in between."

paraphrased from Kazantzakis, been about 20 years since I read it, so a little lee way is required...
