....I see a lot of threads about not making gains.

You can be busting your ass and taking enough Vitamin T to grow a third testicle, and yet it will not matter if your diet is not up to par.

Diet will make or break your gains, whether they be fat-loss oriented or mass building.

Under/over-training can be a problem, but the masses here on EF are definitely training hard enough.

So...if you are putting in the gym time and not getting appropriate results...look at what you are eating.

this is very true. when i eat good, i notice my recovery times are better, my workouts are better, i feel stronger, my mood is better, and i just all around feel good.

train smarter + eat better = gains

when i dont eat alot of food not only do i feel weak but i feel fatter

when i am eating a TON of food i am stronger AND leaner

I agree. But when I'm eating a TON of food, it's quality calories, lots of protein, healthy fats, and complex carbs. When I eat like that I can train harder and recover more quickly. But of course if I start adding in junk the leanness goes away.

If I'm not eating enough my strength suffers as does my recovery time. I just feel fatigued all the time with a sub-par diet.

My diet is pretty simple......

I eat a 40/30/30 P/F/C year round.

To gain - I eat a little more at each meal......to cut I eat smaller meals.

Minimum of 225 grams of protein either way

I seem to make my best lean mass gains...and ironically the best gains in terms of holding LBM while dieting...at 1.5 grams per pound of LEAN mass.
