Just a quick question...

Just wondering if anyone knows the answer to this. I've been working out for about 5 years or so, and usually my muscles are a bit sore the next day but it goes away pretty quickly just depending on how hard the workout went ect. But for legs and abs they feel great the next day but are extremely sore for a few days after that, not really sure why.

DOMS

delayed onset muscle soreness.

It takes your body a few days to register exactly how bad you it them. It's the fallout after the buildup of inflamation and hormones from the workout wears off. Stretching and nice hot baths tend to help the muscles relax and recover faster.

Massage works wonders too.....if you are either in a position to get them for free (an NCAA or Pro athlete or due to your job)....or you can afford it.....get massage done several times a week.....also, if you have access, the good, old ice bath helps a great deal.

how long do you go in between your splits? i.e. how many days between each bench day.

also, how much good sleep do you get, and what's your diet?

i find that i get DOMS when i go more that 3 days in between splits. of course i have a one day split (or lack thereof) so that would be three straight days off.
