Jellyfish are taking over! [news item]

emotions? That insinuates some form of "irrationality" when what I'm saying couldn't be "more rational". A "rational" species, especially one as sentient as we "supposedly" are, would take stock of their surrounding and realize that this is unsustainable and make the necessary adjustments. No emotion involved, just calculation.

imo a proper calculation is that we are fuct as a species and will be pwned by the planet reacting.
just too much strain on our resources and we're powerless.

The thing is bino, we aren't powerless. We are a species that is different from the rest. We have the ability to think ahead, and look into the future as well as into the past. We have the technology available today to bring our world back into balance.

What we don't have, is a will to make sacrifice.

It will take drastic change for us to save our world, are you willing to make the change? Few are. Even fewer are actually aware of the problems that our world faces, and would rather put their attention to Celebrity gossip, or other useless time wasters.

In a way, it's comforting knowing that in 100 years I will be long gone, and the damage that our species does to this earth will not effect me. However, it sucks to know that we are alive in a time where change is possible, we can reverse this and humans can live in harmony with nature again, yet we do nothing. It hurts to know that mine and your grandkids, will look back at our generation and think, "they blew it!"

i can't watch the tube vid at work, but i agree with you...i think as a nation we can def do our part and personally i have been trying (little things like reusing plastic bags and bottles)
but i just don't know how we can control the new super behemoth industrial nations like china/indochina/india...

It takes 10 pounds of grain to cultivate 1 measely fucking pound of meat. And when you look at the resources required to cultivate one pound of grain, and continually follow the resource trail on down.........they calculate that if the world tried to eat meat with the frequency that us americans do, it would take the resources of 4 mother fucking earth's. Now, do we shovel meat down our piehole's every fucking day because of necessity? No, in fact it's proven to be the catalyst for most of our bodies illness's and inadequacies. The acidity in the body generated to digest what the body wasn't made to digest in such quantities has been traced to all kinds of shit like heart disease and cancer. But ask americans to give up eating meat everyday?? get the fuck out of here......it's our manifest destiny to eat meat in copious amounts that our bodies don't need nor want.

Reminds me of the last time I went diving in the outer banks...on our way out to the dive spot, the ocean was spotted with brown bulbous looking things...come to find out it was all jellyfish, probably one for every two square feet. Freaky.
