Jay Cutler Is Mr Olympia!!!

With the things they go through to get ready for a show they will get respect from anyone who has ever stepped on stage. If you haven't done a show you would never understand. I thought his routine was a bit odd, but focusing on that it is missing the point entirely. That's like saying you didn't like the superbowl becuase the half time show wasn't good. That's not what it's about.

Agreed.

Having said that...

I havent witnessed any pro bbing as I have been away from it for a few years and when I clicked on the links I was at first shocked then sort of bored. I know the energy is very different when you are actually in the audience but as with all pro sports my thing is, if it is my friend or family competing (whether bbing/baseball/or flowershow regardless) I am hooting and hollering cheering my friend/family on. But if they are pros I dont have the same interest. Since I had the experience to travel about somewhat in the pro world through promotions and such I saw a side to the "sport" that few see and it REALLY turned me off, coupled with growing and changing self-awareness brought on by life experience.

As I look at these men and women I admire their tenacity to attain the goals that they set out to achieve through unbelievable work and tremendous sacrifice. However, I am very saddened that it is SUCH a sideshow. Just a small example of what I am talking about: how can these men/women possibly function on a daily basis expecting their hearts to successfully pump the blood necessary to support such gargantuan mass? They realize the hazards so I am not passing judgement, only expressing my shock and disbelief that one would be THAT driven. <----- suppose this is the very reason that of the masses that attempt to achieve such status only a minute handfull actually reach the goal they set before themselves. And this holds true with all extremes be it writing/acting/modeling/doctor/lawyer/etc. Many are good and even exceptional but VERY FEW actually become "the best".

But we are talking about a pursuit that is very near and dear to many of us here: the "sport" of competitive bbin/fitness/figure.

Dont really know what I am trying to say actually, just expressing my observations.

*steps off soapbox*

EF's Andy Rooney is done. LOL

It is exciting to get into it, but after you've seen many shows it gets kinda boring. Then you see the inconsistency in the judging or change in quality of competitors (or expectation of the quality of the competitors) and you can identify the trends that more or less make you feel like the integrity and the interest of the sport itself is waning. That is very frustrating. I am less interested in the pro level these days - I like to see what the up & coming pros are doing to shake things up tho as we've had the same top 5 people in there for years. But for me to see guys like Victor, Toney Freeman & last yr's NPC Nat's overall, Bill Wilmore up there is pretty damn cool. The women - there aren't any newcomers recently and the womens' category has been goign thru some change the last few yrs as well. Of all I'm happy to see the ladies like Betty Pariso showing that the older ladies are still bringing it.

props to you and all the women in BB and fitness competitions.

I have always worked out with Male trainers, but I needed a change of pace this time around, so I now train with my Friend's sister.........

Speakinf of Toney Freeman, I am officially a fan. From everything to how he handled himself at the press conference to how he looked on-stage. I love his physique. He's a tall dude with crazy quad sweep and great lines. He will do very well as a pro. To finish top 10 in the Olympia in his first outing speaks volumes.

I was surprised Jay didn't thank his wife during his acceptance speech...shes always helping him out in all his videos....the only Hummer he'll be getting anytime soon is the one he's probably sleeping in outside in his driveway....
