I have multiple degrees and I've been a code monkey for the last six years. I'm just taking pre-reqs for a masters. :)

MS computer science...I already have a BA in history and a J.D.

I'd like to discuss some history with you sometime if you don't mind. Specifically people like Machiavelli.

I took a class as an undegrad that was a graduate military history course where I read Clauswitz, Sun Tzu and Machiavelli. Machiavelli was a politician and not a soldier. :)

PS Machiavelli is wrong about mercenaries. There are many examples of them performing admirably in history.

Have you read "The Prince" by Niccolo Machiavelli?

LOL. Are you asking stupid questions in class?

congratulations. I always hated when older people would come back to school and keep asking stupid questions right when the teacher was going to let us leave early!

cheater!

I guess it isn't as bad as my best friend in college. She took Spanish for her language pre-reqs. She is half mexican and half american and learned spanish as a child. Needless to say, she is fluent.

I intentionally don't answer questions, we had an in class exercise to demonstrate the bubble sort and it was painful to watch the professor pull teeth to get the answer. The class uses Alice to teach programing concepts so at least I get to animate sharks on the moon.

Sounds like my Cisco CCNA class. My instructor was a Cisco genius on paper but he had never actually used one in production. He could tell you anything about Cisco but had no idea that SMTP was on port 25.

My roommate freshman year at OSU was Puerto Rican and took Spanish as his foreign language requirement. We had a couple CPA's in my "Finance and Accounting for Lawyers" class. Imagine the ire that raised among the law nerds. :lmao:

Duh... now javaguru makes sense. Seeing the name out of context of high tech I missed the programming connection. I run the infrastructure/ managed services/ and training practices for my company. I work with developers from the app side all the time on deployments.

Congrats... masters in CS, ba in history, and JD... you are very well rounded. If you don't mind me asking... how old and what are goals?

( I'm old and mentor smart young people all the time at work - can't help myself asking the age/ goals question)

I know the feeling... that's why I got my MBA... just because I needed it in the roles I had before starting own business with partners. I have my PMP and do/ have done quite a bit of large project PM work. I also ran managed services in app companies so worked closely with folks like you.

Sharks on the moon? ;)

I'm glad you're getting out and about with that brain of yours. I know better though, you don't feel guilty about the sandbagging. How much longer until you go for the Masters?

The maths are what's going to take the longest. I could get an MBA in ISOM instead of MS in CS and I would only need a semester of calculus. I'm leaning toward the MS in CS, that's going to require two semesters of calculus and one semester of discrete mathematics. I'll probably take three semesters of calculus because I'm leaning toward simulation. As an undergrad I took stats and logic, in hindsight I should have taken the semester of calculus instead of logic.

Eh, math is easy.

But I still have to take the classes, that's time. I can take discrete mathematics with calculus II but I've got three semesters of calculus regardless.

Are you taking distance learning for any of it? Or is it all in class?

I'm about to do the same thing Monday morning (June 2) in Organic Chemistry.

GF needs it to graduate from school so I'm taking it too. Took it at Vandy 21 years ago.

Are you taking half your Graduate classes online?

Or are you busting out the old number 50 Football Jersey and hitting the campus?

The 1541 drives were terribly unreliable, I think I went through three of them at home. There were always a couple down at any one time in the computer lab. I ended up going with a third party drive and had no problems.

Your PC's have nothing on my Sinclair 1000
"Aggressive pricing of the C64 is considered to be a major catalyst in the video game crash of 1983. In 1983, Commodore offered a $100 rebate in the United States on the purchase of a C64 upon receipt of any video game console or computer. To take advantage of the $100 rebate, some mail-order dealers and retailers offered a Timex Sinclair 1000 for as little as $10 with purchase of a C64 so the consumer could send the computer to Commodore, collect the rebate, and pocket the difference."
