It was crazy that the kids didn't know what the hell a tomato was. He was like do you know what ketchup is? Of course they did.
Holy mother of God. Surely you shit me? They didn't know how to recognize a fucking tomato?
Dude when people in other parts of the world say Americans are ignorant fucktards, stuff like this makes it really hard to argue with them, you know?
I have both episodes tivoed, I did get to see a few minutes of the first one and it was appalling. He was asking kids what they eat at home, it's nuggets for breakfast lunch and dinner. The market brainwashing that these kids get is tragic. THey are raised sheep. THe arguments that people make their own way in this world are starting to hold less and less water when you have PhD's in psychology running marketing campaigns that target children who's minds aren't even remotely fully developed. Free market fixes everything my fucking ass.....it's ruining everything. There's big money in brainwashing children. This show is probably going to reinforce my intention of never raising children in this country.
Don't put it all on the advertisers, as the majority of the blame lies with the lazy parents:
1. Too lazy to cook proper meals for their children.
or
2. Too lazy to kick their asses when they throw fits demanding nuggets and fries, refusing to eat healthy food. (who's in charge, anyways?!)
When I was a kid, we got McDonald's maybe once every two months...tops. We were expected to eat normal balanced meals at home; there was no seperate kiddie meal comprised of processed junk coming out of my mom's kitchen. Lazy parents are the biggest factor in the childhood obesity equation.
are they lazy or do they just not know better? can they even cook? If their parents didn't teach them how to properly cook becuase everyone knows there's a restaurant around every corner so why bother.....than is it laziness or social conditioning?
It's probably both. People just need to be informed that the food industry does not have their best interests in mind. The food you get outside your home, with some exceptions obviously, should be treated as luxury that you treat yourself to "every now and then" because the food while it may test good....is pure and utter swine shit.
That part of your reply argues the same thing that I did, only you went back one generation further.
Either way, a lazy parent (or grandparent, or great-grandparent) allowed this to happen for one reason or another.
Watch Food inc. and you'll understand why cattle in this country "has" to be hopped up to the gills on antibiotics.

I've seen what a feedlot looks/smells like; driving from San Fran to Los Angeles in September I drove by a huge cattle feedlot; I don't even want to guess how many head of cattle were there, but the shades they had built for them went on for what seemed like miles. The smell coming from there was ungodly...and not just your standard cow manure smell. It was clear that many die from the heat, and were not removed from the herd and buried promplty. Gotta wonder about that many animals living one on top of the other with some rotting flesh in the mix.![]()
I grew up working in the garden. My childhood summers were spent weeding, picking, canning, freezing etc. We had 3 gardens, cornfield & orchard. Also raised lamb, cattle and pigs. We never had junk food in the house. I was introduced to fruits & veggies and was made to eat them @ an earlier age--Guess what? Now I luv all veg & fruits. Never had a wt. prob. until I moved away and ate more processed food. Never ate real bad, just didn"t always eat the good stuff. Getting back to that now![]()
Snapping green beans for canning was a traumatic childhood experience...We were expected to work to take care of the family as kids.
I think it's great, apparently 16 schools have revamped their kitchens because of this. I remember in my (high) school everyone just ate fries...I don't remember any healthy food there. i always brought my own lunch though because it was cheaper.
My grandma started teaching me how to cook when i was 3 or 4, cutting up vegetables for soup or salad standing on a chair to reach the counter lol
Since I was 9 or 10 was in charge of making breakfast for evryone because i woke up the earliest. made my own lunches, often cooked dinner for the family. Children should know how to grocery shop, choose their food, and know how to cook it so they can manage their lives.
