he started airforce at 18 got a few years in, quit, the started the reserves. You do the reserves 1 weekend per month and 2 weeks per year, so you have another job. The bulk of his working years were the 15 for Kaiser then 20+ for state. That's 35 years plus his air force activy duty in his teens and early 20s.

Um, no, I do. But the way I read your post, it sounded like he was active duty for the bulk of his career, then went reserve at the end for a few years.

my bad. he only was active duty during the vietnam war then bail out and took some time off from the military, he eventually returned to it for the supplemental income.
