thinking about buying a house
be sweet to throw down a fat down payment
i'd buy it in michigan and plan on it being a retirement home, since i proly won't be living there again anytime soon

In some areas it is a very good time to buy. Financing is tight but there are deals out there.

I made an offer on a 256K home that is selling for 170K (I offered 140K). There are hundreds like them in Virginia. NC is a bit more tight though. I haven't seen that much of a decline here yet.

Great job. That's how you get there. Little by little the money adds up, then compounds from investing, then more savings, more investing, more compounding.... then you've got a few hundred grand, one million, etc.. If the numbers work, do it. It really is that simple. Go for it.

I'd (dca) dollar cost average into the market. Seems like a good time to do it. $2000-$3000/month into an index fund etc... and you're good for many years to come.

lol @ people spending your money for you. ha! But I do agree you need to invest it before it's worth less than you have now. 'beat inflation' good luck

I got 20 bux in my checking... Wanna give me a load Bino, I swear I will pay ya back.

Err LOAN!! Not load... Puddles already gave me one of those.

do you ever see yourself going into financial planning or investing in the future? i know you dont work now but you obviously took some smart pills this morning and you tend to know what in the fuck you're talking about. i cant believe you dont work.

Good stuff! I wish I could say the same, but the kids got sick and the public health care doesn't cover everything! FUCKERS!

Nice bro

I'm sure living in a dorm room type thing getting meals paid for helped - that's how it works, right?

Kinda like the military, don't have much of a chance to spend the money even if you wanted to.

You should have that money in a CD or something. I've seen some 10,000 ones giving 5.5%.....
