ITT you explain this new slang term "whip" to me.

I believe the term "whip" started with "ghost ridin the whip" (walking/dancing next to an unmanned auto)......then was shortened to "whip" as slang for auto....lots of great footage on youtube (search "ghost ride the whip")

I think everyone tries to be cool and think they're down with the newest slang, but really have no idea what it means. Posers, the lot of you.

Ok.......here goes again.....
When the steering wheel was first put into use in automobiles, it was called the "whip". The whip is what you used to control the horses on a stagecoach, hence the analogy. Many years later, various hip hop artists noticed that the Mercedes-Benz logo resembled a steering wheel. They then proceeded to use the old term "whip" to describe any Mercedes-Benz vehicle. The term has now been generalized to classify any expensive automobile.

Cars used to be called "wheels". As anyone who has used a whip can attest, you get wheals from whips. 
I found this on dictionary.com: http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/whip
"A ride in an amusement park, consisting of small cars that move in a rapid, whipping motion along an oval track."
I've also heard the word used to mean "to drive recklessly".
Yo! <--- adding the exclamation mark can add weeks of use to the more mundane 'yo'.
