i just dislocated my right shoulder friday. it only stayed out for a couple of seconds, but it was WAY out. a door hit me in the elbow just right, and my shoulder contracted and pulled itself out. the good part is that something popped last night and it no longer feels loose. the bad part is that i am out for 6 weeks.

end of journal for now, and beginning of new training style i will call "rotator cuffs first priority"

Even though we have been on the opposite ends of the spectrum , shoulders heal... So will yours. Heal up to where you can do physical therapy and get it back up to par

sorry to hear dude. I'm all too familiar with random household injuries- just tell everyone you failed on a 600 max attempt, or got a little roughed up taming a bear

I've had one of mine out twice. Once in jui jitsu posting it behind me on the ground and again years later taking off my shirt after a heavy workout (no shit - perplexing huh). To be honest, it's had all my injuries but one and is the stronger of the two without any issues so hopefully you'll get lucky too. I will warn you that depending on how bad it was it can be a long rehab before you are 90-100%.

You can't even take off your shirt without injuring yourself???

LOL - sometimes it would seem that way. What I meant was that it popped out for the 2nd time when I was taking off my shirt (same shoulder as years before - not sure if that had anything to do with it since it's 50/50). Massive fluke accident, act of a God with an ironic sense of humor, irony, call it what you will but it was 5 months of recovery.

well, i have loose shoulders and i had been feeling the "looseness" more than normal the past few weeks. i dislocated my left a couple of years ago. something popped last night in the middle of the night and my arm feels soo much better today. i honestly think that i could begin rehab within two weeks if it doesnt get reinjured.

You'll get better. Light swimming and lots of lightweight rotator cuff exercises should get you going be it 5 months or not.

Think positive and your body will react positive.

Keep in the game.

MADCOW, i too have dislocated my shoulder whilst taking off a shirt (my elbow hit the wall but my shoulder kept moving, weird eh). ive dislocated both shoulders numerous times, having to put the joint back in place myself (not an easy thing to do, sometimes takes up to 5 min). since weight training, my shoulder joints have become much more stable but there are still certain movement I will never be able to do (i.e. skull crushers, heavy DB flyes, DB pullovers, Overhead TRi extensions, basically anything that pulls the shoulder joint UP and BACK)

somethings up. my shoulder feels close to full recovery already. i know its a bit weaker than last week, but im really tempted to start up my cuff training next week if i feel no discomfort.

last night i even slept on my bad shoulder for a bit and it wasnt bad at all. could i be jumping in to things too quick? i honestly feel pretty strong in there now.

First off, sorry to hear and good luck with a speedy recovery. I tore my RC a few years ago and it is now stronger than ever. With that in mind, IMO, if you have to ask yourself "am I jumping in to things too quickly", the answer is yes. especially with an injury like this. this is a game we can all play for life, so why not take your time with the injury? give me a minute and I will post a link to the RC rehab/strengthening program I used to get back into the game, which was passed on to me by a great bro that is no longer on EF.
