When Israel get's serious, they are unstoppable since they see it as survival. I was listening to the BBC and they said, its rare for it to happen, however there is no division right now in Israel over this issue. I think this is really bad at this point.

Vladimir Putin says both sides need to stop the fighting and has already talked to leaders of Egypt and Iran on the phone. Interesting if Egypt gets thrown into the mix. Do they have any oil? well, the hostage takers wanted the Russian Gov't to let go of some prisoners or something. Putin basically said, "Go fuck yourself," and told his police or military whoever it was to go in and free the hostages. they decided to use gas to gas everybody and put them to sleep before breaking down the doors but they used a little too much gas and everybody died. the russians made a boo boo. oopsie, our bad.

Lebanon can't stand a chance against Israeli armed forces in a conventional war. They'll most likely use guerilla tactics and this shit is gonna last a looong time. Hope it doesn't get out of hand and spread to other nations. But as for you my American friends, I doubt this will affect you in any way. US government will not actively get involved in this, I'm almost sure.
There has been war in the middle east for decades, this is a flare of a fire that has been burning for so long.

Fuck Israel and their American controlled propaganda machine. If we didn't support them the way we do, we wouldn't be looked upon as an equal enemy throughout the world. It's funny how the enemy of Israel is looked upon as terrorists. What about the systematic terror that Israel instils upon the Arabs? Yes, Israel doesn't have to resort to sending a suicide bomber to kill, they just have to launch missles etc... They don't care if they kill civilians. It's funny how they are looked upon as being the vicitm all the time. Maybe because they control ALL the American major media outlets. If we didn't give Israel the billions of dollars worth of military aid every year, they would have had their asses handed to them a long time ago.

There's child blood on everybody's hands. Israeli or Palestinian, doesn't matter. Nobody is "right." It's just the way this stinking world works. America has to do what it has to do to stay a superpower, no matter how dirty it is. Every nation does whatever necessary for power. It's just the name of the game, and it's disgusting.

True, Nobody is going to gain anything from this except more bloodshed and hatred between the two sides. I just like to understand both sides of the issues and the history between the violence of the two in an impartial fashion without succumbing to media propaganda.

Hizbollah has about two thousand full time gunmen, and over 10,000 part-timers. Many more armed Shia will turn out if, say, Israel were to invade south Lebanon again. The Lebanese army has about 70,000 troops. Plus, there are 14,000 internal security troops and police.

Since Egypt had recently signed mutual defense agreements with Syria and Jordan the war necessarily entailed attacking territories controlled by them as well. Egypt had forces of about 100K available for defense, and the other two about 120K between them, making them slightly numerically inferior to Israel. Technologically, the Egyptians and the others were outclassed. The kick off of the war was a "preemptive strike" (fancy words for unprovoked attack) on the Egyptian air force.

The fact remains that all rational assessments of the day including that of the US dip corps trying to restrain Israel under Johnson's admin knew that the Egyptians, Jordanians, and Syrians weren't looking for a fight and couldn't win one if it started. Israel knew that too.... but apparently couldn't resist the temptation to give the indigenes an ass whipping just for the thrill of the ride. Underneath it all may have been the sense that Jerusalem could be made a permanent part of the Israeli sphere if such a war could be successfully prosecuted. And no, they haven't given much back.
