It sucks coming back from an injury

So I had my rotator cuff operated on in the end of November. I'm starting to get some workouts in now. The surgeon cut off the tip of my clavicle (it had major bone spurs). I can still feel pain on the tip of my clavicle when I lift. Mostly I'm depressed because my training weight is way low due to the operation and missing 4 months of workouts. At one point I could bench 405. Now I'm doing sets of 8 with 185. I can't do squats yet because it hurts to put my arms back far enough to hold the bar. I also ate like a pig while I was recovering. Now I'm a bit too fat. I need to drop about 15 pounds. This is messing with my head. :worried:

Well getting to 405 must have been a chore, and required a ton af patience. I would also venture to guess that this is not your first injury...b/c 405 is a damn good squat, muchless bench!

Keep your head up bro - you know the drill. Keep bangin' weight if it's in your heart. The numbers will return if you go for them.

Be happy you are back in the gym... be happy you can even lift. Take it slowely and enjoy adding weight to the bar weekly. It will diminish soon enough and bring w/ it all new problems.

Ya, keep plugging away amigo.

I sorta know how you feel. Every time I come back from a layoff I feel almost awkward in the gym and not at home to to speak.

But, after a few weeks I start getting comfortable in the gym again and then I get my mode on.

Keep at it.

I won't bore you with my personal experiences other than to say every day I'm in the Gym is better than any day that I'm not in the gym. If you feel the same way, your going to come back as good or better than before.

I'm going in tomorrow for one shoulder tear (labrum) operation and I think the other is messed up too...I'm sick about it.

All those people who don't ever exercise, never need surgery, and then I think "I'm screwing up."

Hope yours gets to 100% again.
