Hello everyone.

I'm always trying to gain mass. I had this idea of walking around as much as possible with a backpack on with about 30 lbs of weights in it. And also to walk around with ankle and wrist weights as much as possible. Then just going on about my daily life.

Will I gain any appreciable mass this way?

No, you won't.

To add 'appreciable' mass, you need to lift weights and eat a surplus of calories.

i would imagine you would just burn more calories and maybe risk loosing size depending on your bodyfat but i dont know i could be wrong

Yeah kaukasion (funny name btw) you're probably right. I didnt think about that...burning more calories. damn!

Well, we always talk about how your muscles only know "work," so theoretically, wouldn't this work if you used enough weight?

I'm saying that sort of in jest, but I'm also a little curious. LoL

a friend of mine who played a lot of basketball always wore a weighted vest around. he had really strong calves and a good vert leap, but his upper body was extremely small.

if you do this:

the only muscles getting worked will be whatever stabilizers/support muscles you use to control the backpack.

body weighting is recommended for some plyometric-type exercises, but i wouldnt do it all the time. it's a whole lot of effort... when it would be easier to just modify your routine/diet
