6 foot
170 pounds
bench 170

don't really lift as much anymore, used to be able to bench 220 when i weighed 120 back in 8th grade.

all i ever do is bench, curl, and upright rows when i get the chance.
he claims its true but i call bs, u think the 8th grade thing is possible, he claims free weight barbells too. i say MAJOR bs. tahts just me.

am i making an ass out of myself on the other forum by calling bs?

It depends on what he considers "bench." Someone once told me they could bench 300 and then to prove it they did it on a machine, and when i went to the machine my bench went up 80 lbs from what i could do on free weights. However it is physically possible, i had a friend who hit puberty very early and did over 200 in 8 grade, but of course, this friend weighed about 170. I say most likely BS.

yeah hes probably assuming his thin basement bar he got at cash converters weighs as much as the ones at the gym and hes probably not bringin it down all the way. i dont believe it
220 @ 120 is something that requires alot of good training. Thats nearly double bodyweight! theres not alot of room for muscle at 6'0 120 so you gotta make sure your neuromuscular system is in damn good shape.

Im not the person to say its true or not,but remember....alot of stories come from teens(not all teens) when it comes to lifting. At the high school here, they do cleans by deadlifting the weight, then drop the bar(with bumper plates),and let it bounce back up...all pr's are either inflated, cheated, assisted,or reps are partial.I wont flat out say anyone is lying, but Im careful about what I believe.

Most ppl in gyms lie about what they can lift (with shitty form) so why should some anonymous kid on the internet tell the truth?

Unless people post pics of vids then I take what they say with a grain of salt, which is why I like this forum so much - people back up what they say.

Me, too.

If grown men lie about what they lift, how big their arms are etc. (which they often do), it follows that insecure teenagers will lie even MORE about their abilities.

220 @ 120 bodyweight, in the eighth grade, sounds like a stretch to me. I wouldn't necessarily say it's *impossible*, but a double-bodyweight bench with obviously very little training...*shakes head* I dunno. That DOES smell like bullshit to me.

Boardin, you aren't making an ass of yourself if you're simply questioning that stat. That is rather incredible...not many 8th graders can bench 220 when they WEIGH 220, for cryin' out loud.

bro at that age you think you are strong thats when you first are like oh shit cool i can do this and that but 220 no way bro
