I think they have the fights in the lounge downstairs....If BRR stops his posting...I'll let you know. But it may take awhile, I saw some plumpers down there earlier :Chef: :tuc:

Dance with the dead in my dreams...mutha fugga :Chef: :tuc:

My midget friend invited me over to see this fight. He's big time into this stuff, but he's having a bunch of people over and I can't be with him unless we are alone. He has that little man's disease and acts like an ass.

Where on the internet can I read about this?

Stopped in the first round by big John McCarthy...

Hughs sitting on Gracie's back punching the shit out of him with Gracie showing little attempt to defend himself...

UGH! That sucks. I was so rooting for Gracie. So disappointing.
What are you talking about? Gracie was the winner! Gracie got paid 1.5m for this fight and it's promotion; while Hughes got ~ 250k.

I was hoping for a better fight, but I'm glad I didn't lose the 14,000 k that I put on Hugh's to win by ko....

Really? Why did Gracie get paid so much more? I mean Hughes is the big name now, right?

Glad you got some K out of the fight, recruit. =-)

Gracie was always overrated. I could tell you a story but the Gracie lovers wouldn't want to believe it. He's a phoney.

Hughes is a future UFC Hall of Famer, and so is Gracie...

If that is what they really got paid, then Royce earned his money by getting his ass kicked!

In the very first UFC, Gracie fought a joke of a 175 boxer named Art something. It was a setup. The reason I know is because I had read a book about jie-jitsu long before the ultimate fighting championship came out. The book was promoting the sport and claimed that Gracie beat a boxer using jiu-jitsu and the boxer's named happened to be the same person that Gracie fought in UFC1. There was also an article in Playboy long before UFC with one of the Gracie brother's claiming he could defeat Mike Tyson (This was before the sport was even popular) It was all promotion. Gracie was pretty good though, but that fight was definitely a setup.

I just was so crazy about UFC back in Gracie's heyday. I was a huge fan. I sort of lost touch with UFC when I was working lots of hours. It has changed so much! they used to not wear even light weight gloves. Well, anyway, I knew the fighters back then better than I know the newer ones. I always liked Gracie, and I tend to always cheer for underdogs.

On a positive note, he said he will definetely be back...

I think Gracie's loss is best for MMA.

What would it say about the evolution of the sport if someone who dominated it 13 years ago and who hasn't regulary participated in MMA events in recent years could step into the ring today and beat the current champ?

He'll either fight stiffs or he will get his skinny ass kicked. He is done. Stick a fork in it.

There was this one guy who I used to LOVE. I can't think of his name now. He was the alternate and he got to come into a fight because one of the other fighters was scratched. He was a big underdog and he won the match and, I think, went on the win the whole thing (or close. it's been a long time). Anyway, when they interviewed him, they asked him how it felt to win. In broken English, he said something to the effect of "I did not expect to win. Those are really tough guys." Anyway, I thought he was so cool and humble that I just always loved him after that. You know who I'm talking about. He was from somewhere like Norway or Sweden, I think.

I agree. He is washed up and everyone knows his game...

Time for Gracie to join fork in it...

Describe what he looked like.

Was he from early UFC?

Big burly guy, sorta dark sandy blondish, built like a bear, actually wore a ghee to fight. From early UFC, like circa 1995 or so.

All I can think of is Remco Pardo (sp?), but I think he was from Germany.

Remco Pardu? The big teddy bear looking guy from Finland I think. His specialty was jie-jitsu. He totally fucked that guy up that he fought. Took him down with flawless technique and a very hard body slam and then elbowed him into never never land.

lol! Yeah got to love no weight class competitions.

Remco only outweighed that dude by about 100lbs. ;)

Yes! That is it!!! He elbowed him and then looked shocked that he was out like a baby after the booby. ;-)

I love Remco!

Those elbows were deadly. Right to the temple and very hard. The dude looked like a dead deer with his tongue hanging out.
