is it true steroids make your traps grow faster then any other muscle group?

i tried to find the article that i read . but it said that cops are told to identify possible steroids users by the trapezius muscle if it is abnormally large..
i laughed cause my traps resemble branch warrens no joke lol
any one read this or heard anything about it??? :p

i think what they are referring to are BB's in general. not all of them wear tight clothing and it may be easier to spot the large traps as a sign of a BB (or powerlifter)and their assumption is that they all use.

my traps grow faster than any body part any way. I don't even do traps excercises, and they get bigger. must be the deadlifts :p

do u think that large traps give you a more narrow appearance possibly hindering the notice of your shoulder development??

i only work traps when i deadlift and they still grow (no isolation exercise)

and i strongly agree with nelson's comment, i don't like the big trap look

i know its kinda crazy , sometimes i wont directly hit my traps for weeks and they still grow it seems ! but i do love my shrugs .. so a pro such as say markus ruhl with MASSIVE traps appear more blocky bc of them??

yes they do grow fast on juice
test and androgens seems to make them blow up.
I actually stopped directly working traps awhile ago. My wife told me I was looking like a hunchback and nasty.

So after looking at pics I relized she was right. Now I just shrug light dumbells like once a week maybe 120's for a few sets of 8 .

ruhl is WIDE, i like his massive look in a sick, twisted way

(he's my fav bodybuilder)

I have this same problem. My traps always make my Delts look small. I dont work traps directly at all.
ANd no it doesnt make sense that they would respond better to roids

SKULL:
Steroids may or may not increase the size of the skull; the effect is more often attributed to human growth hormone, which is sometimes taken in conjunction with anabolic steroids.

Skin:
Bodybuilders' skin sometimes takes on a reddish glow, since steroids cause water retention, which raises blood pressure. One writer described 'roided bodybuilders as resembling walking erections, "all veiny and red."

Deltoids, Traps:
Supersized muscles surrounding the shoulders--trapezius, lats, pectorals, deltoids, biceps, and triceps--are a good clue that Mr. Needle has been introduced to Mr. Buttock. Even if the lower body is normal size, upper-body muscles tend to be inflated.

Chest:
One of the few consistent results of steroid-use studies is an increase in bench-press strength. When an experienced lifter makes sudden, dramatic strength gains, assume pharmacological intervention.

Back:
Upper-body acne is a common side effect in adults using steroids.

Nipples:
By any other name, gynecomastia is a bitch. Steroid-induced breast tissue can only be removed surgically.

Lats:
Lifters can increase muscle mass by up to 25 percent with 10 weeks of steroid use, so stretch marks on biceps and pectorals are common.

Forearms:
This is anecdotal, but some have observed that the best natural bodybuilders have a thick bone structure. When you see a guy with huge forearm muscles rising off relatively small bones, it's a pretty good sign he's been hitting the Vitamin S.

Biceps:
Another way to tell the difference between natural and unnatural lifters: The juicers look as if they have more muscle fibers as well as bigger fibers. Steroids seem to trigger a process called hyperplasia, in which the body produces new muscle cells.

Abs:
Steroids help reduce body fat even as they promote muscle growth. A guy who gains a lot of muscle quickly without steroids will also tend to add fat. Only a juicer can get substantially bigger in the chest and shoulders while losing fat from his waist.

Hands:
Sportswriters are fond of saying steroids won't help you hit a fastball. But, since testosterone regulates the nervous system, steroids are thought to increase quickness by decreasing reaction time. Next stop, McCovey Cove.

Thighs:
Anabolic steroids don't reduce inflammation, but they can help torn muscles recover their strength. On the other hand, corticosteroids, which are commonly used to reduce inflammation quickly, can cause damage to a muscle's structure and tissue regrowth.

Knees:
Sports-medicine physicians have long suspected that steroids damage tendons and ligaments. Animal studies from the '80s show that the damage to joints begins within a few days of steroid use, and that exercise combined with steroid use makes it worse. The lab animals ended up with stiffer, weaker tendons.

Testicles:
With artificial testosterone injected into your body, your testicles don't need to make their own, so the assembly line shuts down, and the testes shrink.
Penis:

Waldo goes wild, even while his two nutty friends turn into shrinking violets. Steroid users often develop voracious sexual appetites (despite the fact that they're actually producing less sperm), along with feelings of euphoria and boundless energy.

stretch marks are a bitch. but i'd say one of the best ways to tell if someone has been juicin. hell i went from 142 in 8th grade to 220 my senior year of high school . stretch marks galore baby

Is this true?

Only because the tendons & ligaments cannot keep up with the fast muscle growth they are supporting onto the bone. Some AAS (winny) can damage & weaken the tendons.

Traps & rear delts are a good indication of AAS usage. Well they give me away every time, & I love training them LOL

I was under the impression that roids did not creat more muscle cells bu made the ones you have bigger. I thought GH caused hyperplasia?

The only steroid / hormone that could promote hyperplasia, i.e. the recruitment and production of more muscle cells is HGH. That is a fact.

Stress on the muscle alone will cuase a natural IGF and GH release that will cuase hyperplasia.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hyperplasia

That is one reason why " ex juicer's " that turn natural will always have more muscle and look better then someone that is 100% natural

No dude. Only HGH can cause hyperplasia. Hyperplasia stops in human beings when they reach a certain age. Only HGH can trigger hyperplasia to start again. I don't believe that "natural IGF and GH release that will cuase hyperplasia." No offense.

Read up. See for yourself.

I was a disbeliever also untill more recent studies

http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/issa7.htm

a study was done in germany that disected people after death and according to the study showed that bodybuilders not only had bigger muscles but in most cases alot more fibers in them then any normal non training person but get this the muscle fibers were the same size as the regular person's suggesting the trainer was building new fibers to explian the size of whole muscles why they were so much bigger yet the fibers were normal

Here is some good info as well

I thought that your traps and upper back area have the most androgen receptors of all the muscles in the body.

Only exercise I know off that helps release HGH in the body is frickin hardcore squatting. Even that is not enough to cause hyperplasia. I understan there are studies, but they are merely a claim and haven't been proven.

I don't work out my traps and barely work out my shoulders due to the job I have. Its like I shrug and press blocks all day long. The only part of my delts I mainly train are the rear delts to keep everything balanced.
