Is it possible to Increase your max bench over 100 pounds in a year?

Just curious? Have any of you done this...maybe its really common and i just dont know about it...though i doubt it because if that was so, guys lifting for 10+ years would be pounding shit over a grand in weight.
 
Well I've been back in training for about 5-5 1/2 months now and my bench has gone up about 85lbs already and I fully expect to have increased by about a total of 125lbs in a year's time.

But, I'm not new to training, just getting back into training which is a big difference, but depending on genetics a person could gain maybe 200lbs in a year, who knows?

There's a guy at my gym of Polynesian decent and he reps 315lbs clean and smooth on the bench at 210lbs bodyweight, cut and yoked. He has been lifting for 1 year and has SICK genetics.
 
first year i lifted my max when from 185 to 255. 70 pounds total, but man was it sweet when i put the 255 up.

yes its very possible..its a lot harder to go from 315 to 405 then it is to go from 225 to 315..the higher you go the harder it will get as well..even advanced lifters can get stuck at a weight for years..

if your looking to add lbs to your bench you will have to stop doing a bodybuilding routine and train your lift..most will notice to their surprise they actually get bigger doing this then they did following the typical bb'er chest routine....look at andy fiedler ryan kennelly and mendy those guys all have big delts chest arms
 
as others have said- yes.
relatively, if you see women as they first bench, most can barely bench the bar and with a regular training schedule can double their bench within a year. after that year though, its not likely going to double again though.

Yes if your new.

I would even go as far to say its fairly easy if you have someone whos knowledgable about strength training helping you out.

But it does get harder as you go along.
