Is anything much more miserable than a bad sunburn?

I fried myself in a tanning bed (at a place I don't normally go to) yesterday. I was about a 7 in pain on a scale from one to 10. I slept in late this morning. When I woke up my hubby told me that our family would be there in less than an hour and we were going tubing down a river all day.

Now I'm sunburned about a 10 out of 10. I had on spf 50 and reapplied often but it was hopeless. It hurts to just wear clothes. So now I'm going to advocate that if you're alread burned, don't go spend 8 hours in a swimsuit in the sun. :)

That place must have had new bulbs or something because 20 minutes fried me. But the 8 hours of sun didn't help matters. At least it was fun.

I work in an ER and have treated people with acute sunburns. Motrin is great for the pain, you can also use a lidocain gel for topical pain relief. Now you know in a few days when the pain stops you will start itching and peeling. Remember if the burn is bad enough you can get an infection and even dehydrated. Drink lots of good fluids and stay out of the sun awhile.

I got 2nd degree sunburns once and on the same day my mom got 3rd degree sunburns on her lips. She wound up in the hospital. Ick.

I'm just going to stay hydrated. On a plus note now I don't need any makeup!

I knew this nurse galfriend of mine that wanted to get tan and I said, yeah, go for the oxsoralen, itll help increase your sensitivity to the sun and you can get much darker from it. lol
KIM, if youre out there and ever read this, Im sorry

Lesson number one: Don't wear clothes.
:p :p

I had it so bad on my chest last summer that I was scratching it with a fork. I'd rather have died than went thru that pain again. I was trying to rip the skin off.

I love getting a sunburn because I hardly get them no matter how long I stay outside. :(

THe body flu might be a little worse. Neither are pleasant.
