Is 5-HTP good as they claim?

100mg and i am out for about 2 hrs thats about it...4 at the most at night...i cant sleep past that. It the same effect Demarol had on me in the hospital post appendicitis....melatonin rules for sleep i heard 25 mg of 5-htp works great for mood and app supression but it needs to be on an empty stomach and larger doses with food help for sleep...? havent seen studies done on that yet
 
Neither melatonin nor 5-HTP helped me sleep :(
 
some of these supps help regulate something that is not working properly. in the case of 5htp maybe you need to have a deficit of serotonin in order to feel effects. I'm giving it a try this weekend so I'll post results. Btw, I read on this forum that taking it on empty stomach with some b6 makes it work more effectively.
 
I took it and it definitely worked to increase mood.

FUnny thing was I would get heart palpitations or something. I used to have anxiety as a kid so I just wrote it off to that. But the study that Type A mentioned really freaked me out. I stopped taking it a few weeks ago because of the symptoms and now I'm really glad.

Type A, can you post a link to the actualy study?
 
youy really need to use it for a couple of weeks to really feel the gradual increase in effects, which are very subtle to say the least.
100mg before you go to bed is optimal.

best uses:
if you are using aas/ph to cut, then 5-htp will help you out the most, as it straightens your mood, and helps fight of the hunger. you still feel hungry but you dont HAVE to eat.

other uses:
the only real effective part supp(after any mdxx compound)
another 100mg at lunch time with food, will really give you an insight into the mood elevation effects from this.

combine with a half dose eca/half dose nyc and feel the aggression!!! :mad:
