Introduction to Libertarianism

^^^
is that your pathetic excuse of cliff notes accompanying a youtube exceeding 1 hour?

Herding free thinkers is an impossible task for a rational movement; Order from perceived chaos is how the world works. How can you have language without the government determining the language? IMO, language and mathematics are the most important developments in human history and both emerged without the direction of a central authority.

Walter Block as a mentor would tempt me to forgo my income to study at Loyola; I've considered it because I value education over income.

The best of the Austrian economists is Jeffrey Herbener. Herbener teaches at Grove City College. I've thought of transplanting myself there, but from what I hear the closest thing of note is a cow pasture.

Watch some videos of Walter Block back when he was young. What a firebrand he was!

What about Marxism?

Your posts never make sense. You're a very poor communicator.

I think the capacity for language is "wired into our brains".

ok if I side with Pinker?

  • PhD degree in experimental psychology at Harvard University

[*]From 1982 until 2003, Pinker taught at the Department of Brain and Cognitive Sciences at MIT, and eventually became the director of the Center for Cognitive Neuroscience

[*]He is the Johnstone Family Professor of Psychology at Harvard; from 2008 to 2013 he also held the title of Harvard College Professor in recognition of his dedication to teaching

[*]Pinker was named one of Time Magazine's 100 most influential scientists and thinkers in the world in 2004

Considering that I've always tested in the high percentiles on standardized tests and have a 4.0 in my current program with a math minor; Your analysis is flawed. I've also graduated from a prominent undergrad military history program with honors and law school; My academic credentials are solid.

I suspect you should watch my bomb in the brain thread because in my opinion you have serious brain damage from early childhood experiences.

Yeah, my instructor in college for critical writing told me I was too "Faulknerian" in my writing and I need to write more like Hemingway.

I assume you're a Hemingway fan.

My high school physics teacher taught me that opinions are a lot like assholes. :)

I never read much so I don't know about Hemingway.

indeed... and everybody has one and they usually stink..

to complete the saying..

I'll agree with the others who mentioned we are hard wired with the capability of learning, however as a strong subscriber to the behaviorist theory I feel that modern day/evolved humans no longer have instincts, not sure if they are dormant or just totally gone, but the fact people can commit suicide goes against self preservation, mothers killing their kids or neglecting them questions the "maternal instinct" (not to say all women are like this I'm sure most mothers would die defending their babies), our ability of getting lost and even hopeless in sometimes simple circumstances goes against survival instinct, and so on, bio-psycho-social, I feel we learn almost everything in life, very few things if any are hard wired or instinctive and it that case it's more a primitive reflex than anything (like suckling)

Yeah, it's called evolution.

You also don't want anyone else banging her either, that's the selfish gene.

i'm too damn old and tired and have way too much respect for the missuzz to actually engage in any debauchery (outside of my own home) at this point in my life...and yes...i'm very selfish...in fact, i'm actually a good libertarian...you do whatever the hell you want...knock yourself out...but, if you touch any of my people or any of my shit, i won't stop shooting you until i run out of bullets.

that's the selfish gene.

“Just as blueprints don't necessarily specify blue buildings, selfish genes don't necessarily specify selfish organisms. As we shall see, sometimes the most selfish thing a gene can do is build a selfless brain. Genes are a play within a play, not the interior monologue of the players.”

― Steven Pinker, How the Mind Works

I agree, self-awareness is an amazing development in evolution and we all make subjective value judgements. The "common good" coalesces from the individual actions of all the participants in a system assuming no outside authoritarian influences. The "common good" is most often handed down from on high by religion and government; not individual action within a free system.

EF shows via mutual cooperation that rob and bro are the same word in context. Everyone within a system cooperates for the common good, my "bible" of grammar and citation in 1991 differed from my "bible" of grammar and citation in 2006 substantially; It wasn't a government project but a voluntary community project.
